"...My father was belligerent toward all of the children, except me. The older ones he would
beat almost savagely if they broke any of his rules-and he had so many rules it was hard to know
them all. I've thought a lot about why. I actually
believe that as anti-white as my father was, he was subconsciously so afflicted with the white
man's brainwashing of Negroes that he inclined to favor the light ones, and I was his lightest
child. Most Negro parents in those days would almost instinctively treat any lighter children better
than they did the darker ones. It came directly from the slavery tradition that the "mulatto,"
because he was visibly nearer to white, was therefore "better."
~ The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as told to Alex Haley (Grove Press, 1965)
The Chinese Communist Party has an unwritten, unspoken social contract with Chinese citizens: "We will look after you. Just lay off democratic aspirations." The Trade-off here is simple: The population receives safety, infrastructure, and the freedom to build businesses and accumulate personal wealth. In return, citizens agree to bypass democratic aspirations like human rights agitation, accept heavy censorship, and leave political governance entirely to the ruling CCP.
Has the CCP fulfilled its end of the bargain?
Largely yes: From the launch of economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping to the 2020s, China has delivered the largest sustained economic expansion and poverty reduction campaign in human history.
China has effectively eradicated extreme absolute poverty ( those living under the $1.90/day metric by the World Bank). 800million people lifted out of poverty in just 30 years. A country that was a pitch-poor, peasant society in 1980 now has less than 1% of its population remaining poverty.
Now let's compare with Uganda. The NRA/M when they came in power in 1986 essentially said to us: "We will guarantee fundamental security and peace across the country; in exchange, you accept our political dominance and centralized control."
Since Independence in 1962 Uganda had been suffering massive trauma from state collapse and violent dictatorships of the 1970s and early 1980s (under Idi Amin and Milton Obote) and were restless so they just accepted. For decades, the NRM's most powerful source of legitimacy has been the simple phrase: Atleast Mwebaka ku tulo (We brought peace, sleep, and stability. You can sleep at night without fearing rogue state armies or rebel groups, abductions and disappearances etc)
But the NRA didn't stop there. Their 10-point programme promised more.
5. Building an Independent, Integrated, and Self-Sustaining National Economy: Shifting Uganda away from structural dependency on foreign aid and raw material exports.
6. Restoration of Social Services: Rebuilding infrastructure, healthcare, education, and clean water access.
7. Elimination of Corruption: Combating the misuse of public
So What has Ugandans got in actuality from this social contract? Let me know in the comments
Uganda's politics absurdity has reached the Clayton Bigsby phase.
"Clayton Bigsby, the World's Only Black White Supremacist" is a famous sketch from Dave Chappelle's Show aired in 2003. In it,
a white supremacist named Clayton Bigsby is unaware that he is actually a black man because he was born blind.
Bigsby has written several books preaching hatred against minorities. He's the most virulent racist on earth
Years later he's confronted with incontrovertible evidence that he's in fact a black man.
But even upon realizing his true racial identity, Bigsby remains racist.
The first thing he does for example, is file for divorce from his white wife of 19 years. When asked why, he states it is because she is a "nigger lover" for having married him
Nine years already! 🎉🥳 My awesome comms colleagues made a video of my favourite famous quotes, and I realised two things: they've been listening, and I really do repeat myself! 😂 At least seven times, as one of the quotes says.
The photos themselves tell a journey – time really flies when you are having fun

Somehow I am realising I was so enchanted and hypnotised by the Camelot-style, historic nature of Oyo's kingship that it will take sometime to imagine another figure in those royal robes and on that throne. Doesn't arouse the same feelings.
I think part of it is the innocence of that sweet child who was thrust onto the throne in 1995, becoming the world's youngest monarch, who then grew up in our eyes in poise and grace, with an almost saintly genteelness that was his persona, then suddenly and prematurely dies in a cruel feat of nature.
So just give people going through these emotions sometime to adjust. It has nothing to do with illwill toward the new king. They will come around.
Wishing HRH Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I a successful tenure

As his popularity soars for simply showing how easy it is to deliver public goods to people with minimal effort, someone in the State is gonna be jealous and think this is making it look bad. Ask @rkabushenga abt the impact of his prolictivity for social causes in the 2000s...😁
WE BUILT A HOSPITAL IN A VILLAGE.
Yesterday was nothing short of amazing.
We hosted a massive free health camp for the people of Bamutakudde and neighboring villages in Kyampisi Sub-county and the turnout was overwhelming.
Over 700 people turned up: the old, the young, women, men. Over 50 medical workers volunteered their time and skills. We had free consultation, testing, treatment & medicine for all
For one day, we had a real hospital in our village:
- Reception, waiting area & triage (BP & temperature checks)
- General Medicine desk
- Dental clinic
- Lung & Respiratory desk thanks to Makerere University @Lung_Institute
- Gynecology desk powered by @naggalamahosp
- Lab testing (blood tests), HIV/AIDS counselling & testing thanks to @Rotary_Bukoto
- Prostate Cancer screening
- Ultrasound / Imaging scans
- Pharmacy : Free medicines given out
- Eye Care Clinic free eye checks & free glasses powered by @HAPAUG01
I have never seen our community so happy. My heart is full.
Thank you to @Alahai256 and @NewtonAllan6 the team leads, every doctor, nurse, lab technician, volunteer, partner, and mobilizer who made this possible. You gave our people the gift of health.
A big thank you to my village team for the making this a success. Team, we did it.
Bs. We are still under an Ebola travel ban even though WHO declared it over, are on State Department Level 4 'Do not travel' advisory, we have to pay a $20,000 visa bond, are on the list of 75 immigrant visa banned countries etc. What 'relations' is he talking about? Sexual?

@nickopiyo Brutal(ly) honest (but crowing) article by @turkiyetodaycom . The writer chronicles Turkey's investments into 🇸🇴 since 2011& is now reaping. Zero causalities. The UPDF paved Turkey's way by blood of 000s of our boys but behaved like a mercenary for hire. No post-war strategy
@_Foi_T The Ugandans were denied visas otherwise that's what they would b3 doing too. Maybe in future U.S should deny more of these corrupt busy-body nepotism babies visas across Africa
@Muzungu4@halal_Afrika Mbonyi has no idea that I play Nzibyo Nibwira endlessly on repeat during my gym workouts every morning, then in the shower, backhome, etc. What a song! God bless him!
