However, I would propose that it is not so easy to get what he actually refers to by certain terms and that one must understand his overall view (which was still in process in Man in Revolt). Ps: twitter is not ideal for indepth discussions.

I have written briefly about Brunner‘s anthropological ontology (imago dei) and this might help (chapter 4), since one must understand that relationship is Brunner‘s leitmotif throughout - this had already started in Man in Revolt.

His main point is that one must differentiate but at the same time cannot take apart.

Here, I think he refers with „Geist“ to the human being as imago dei, his being towards God, his being created as a relational being.
