the timing of a new “asian pop” category while a major asian act is having one of the most successful albums globally really exposes the problem: it’s segregation and not inclusion.
when non western artists are still underrepresented in major categories, it doesn’t feel like recognition for the asian music market, but containment. they deserve to win, but they cannot, so let’s give them a candy that excludes them a bit further. at least it looks pretty, right?
it’s unfortunate how the “how are you so shameless” line from aliens always hits.

d4vid is a clear example of how truly unprotected girls and women are in society. this man was LOUD with his predatory behavior. he didn’t hide it from her friends, or online friends, or anyone. we live in a society where predators aren’t scared of grooming victims out loud.
Sally Rooney says she couldn’t accept a literary award in person in London because she might face arrest upon entering the UK due to her support for the proscribed group Palestine Action.
The bestselling author had just won the Sky Arts Award for Literature in recognition of her latest novel, Intermezzo. Her editor accepted the award at The Roundhouse in London on Tuesday on her behalf.
“I wish that I could be with you this evening to accept the honour in person,” a statement from Rooney read. “But because of my support for non-violent anti-war protest, I’m advised that I can no longer safely enter the UK without potentially facing arrest.
“In that context, I want to thank you all the more warmly for honouring my work tonight, and to reiterate my belief in the dignity and beauty of all human life, and my solidarity with the people of Palestine."
In August, Rooney stated that she would use royalties from her books to support Palestine Action, despite the risk of prosecution under the Terrorism Act.
The BBC have driven out one of their most popular stars for opposing genocide.
Meanwhile, they refuse to broadcast an absurdly vetted documentary about Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system.
History will record that the BBC is complicit in genocide.
