NEW: 52 #FAWNL clubs who oppose plans for WSL academy sides to be added to the third tier have today written to the FA, to call for a vote on the matter. The clubs (a more than 2/3rds majority of the 72 FAWNL clubs), want a Special General Meeting. More follows on the Guardian.
Striker Geena Gordon spent the 2003/04 season with AFC Wimbledon Women playing in both the reserves and first team. Clearly she’s passed on some football genes as her son Zhaviah Campbell has recently been called up to the Jamaica U20 squad! Welcome to WOPA Geena 🔵🟡🤝 #602

So, despite the repeated and resounding objections to putting PGA teams in the @FAWNL, it looks like it’s happening anyway.
Do clubs, players, supporters & @WeAreTheFSA views really mean so little?
Formed by the ladies from the typing pool at the East Midlands Gas Company in Leicester after the World Cup in 1966, Emgals were soon competing with the best. Here they are in 1967 before joining the Midlands WFL.
Ladies leagues (re)started to sprout up around the country from the summer of 1967. In one of the first, the Warwickshire Ladies Football League, Chase Athletic (Bedworth) beat Stermet Wanderers (Nuneaton) 2-0 at the Griff & Coton Sports Ground in Nuneaton in October 67.
1969: Co Durham sides Marles & Ramars beat Ransome 3-1 in front of 3000 spectators at Butlins, Filey in a match in the Ladies International Football Knockout Tournament, originated by Hughie Green, shown here with Ransome's blonde captain, Elizabeth Dorn, and Linda Appleton.

@Copa90 That's the Palace 71/72 kit. but Crystal Palace Ladies were in the Home Counties League. Could be Penge (Crystal Palace) who played Beaver Farm, Gallahers, Hounslow, Molesey, Unity (Chiswick) and Watford (Bluebirds). The GLW was called the Hounslow & District League until 83/84.
Defender Hannah Billingham has been an integral part of AFC Wimbledon’s success over the last ten years, captaining the side for five seasons and making 221 appearances. Thank you for everything and welcome to WOPA @hanbillingham 🔵🟡🤝 #595
Kevin Foster’s final game as manager last night ended a memorable ten-year spell in charge of AFC Wimbledon Women and coaching pathway teams at the club. Achieved promotion with a title win in 2023/24 and kept the Dons in the third tier on limited resources. Welcome to WOPA #593
@afcw_women@afcw_women were beaten by the better team tonight, but gave it a real go and, on another night (and with a different referee), could have taken it to penalties. Both the players and fans did @KdfFoster pround in his last match at the helm after 10 years.
REMINDER: AFC Wimbledon’s Under-18s will be aiming to claim a third piece of silverware this season as they take on Luton Town on Wednesday 29 April (7pm KO) at Kenilworth Road in the PDL Cup Final 🏆
