@Floof_Ranger @RobbStack_sats Well, that is arguably true only if you can preserve the physical object well. I couldn't so shamefully I threw my Godzilla away as plastic waste after a few years owning. While the digital asset exists forever as long as the blockchain and internet are here to stay.

@Floof_Ranger @RobbStack_sats Also since it is heavily relying on the energy grid whether using combustible fuels or not, it's really hard to say it produces more waste if 76% of the miners are using at least partially renewable energy thanks to cryptocurrency's volatility and difficulty on mining.

@Floof_Ranger @RobbStack_sats Unfortunately (or fortunately?), NFT has far more use cases than only for digital collectible. It's essential a ledger exists in the blockchain to tell everyone on the internet that person X owns asset Y. It can be used on any contract or ticket and far more.

I once owned a plastic Godzilla figure at young age but I didn't preserve it well so my parents threw it away as waste. Now I prefer to have something can last longer. :)

The energy grid may be also using combustible fuel. The battery disposal is also harmful. It takes time to refine but the technology is trying to evolve as fast as possible.

As for crypto mining, most proof-of-work miners are using at least partial renewable energy grid to save cost. It's the energy grid that matters not just how much total energy consumed as this number will just grow over the year with growing population.
