Revelation 1:5 “and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the RULER OF THE KINGS OF THE EARTH.”

A good way of understanding Revelation is to know it speaks across time. it proclaims truth, to the readers in the first century, readers today and truth concerning an ultimate prophetic future reality culminating in the end of this age.

Thus in v5 John proclaims Jesus’ rulership equally:

Over the dominant and tyrannical emperors of the day, in the first century

as well as the ruler of this age which aims to steal and kill and destroy, over all the centuries.

But Jesus also calls us to know He is King over those who aim to rule over you today.

If indeed He is King over Satan, and King over Ceaser, it would be foolish to doubt His Kingship over the rulers of our day, even less the rulers in your day.
