Introducing ReCall.
In a recent ₹2.47 crore theft in Rajkot, investigators reviewed footage from 1,000+ CCTV cameras and mapped the route taken by the suspects.
and it made me think ..
why are we still searching video like this?
if you have 100 hours of footage, finding one moment shouldn't mean figuring out which video it's in and scrubbing through everything.
Recall solves this exact problem
give it your local video directories, it monitors them and processes incoming videos.
then, ask what you're looking for.
> “when does the person in the blue shirt enter?”
> “show me when the car leaves the parking lot”
> “find every time someone enters through front door”
Recall finds the relevant video and timestamp, then lets you open that exact part.
right now it can detect and track people and objects, understand scenes and events, and turn all of that into searchable memory.
everything runs locally!
(optional support of cloud vlms via api provided for slower machines).
next i'm working on richer contextual search, cross-video + long-term memory, better event understanding, and eventually bringing speech and OCR into the same search.
more importantly, i'm constantly working on making the processing pipelines as efficient as possible, while keeping a good balance between speed and accuracy.

(interactions with the repo appreciated!)
most of my batchmates (2028 passout) are chasing certifications like crazy and then posting them only linkedin. i am not against it. but i never understood the hype behind it.
the thing that bothers me the most are those AWS practitioner certificates. i mean sure you do get good exposure but most of them never launched an ec2 instance ever.
if you think you can "learn" by just doing theory portion then that's a big lie sold successfully. atleast in 2026. older times are gone!
started october with a goal that i want to work at a startup by the end of 2026, pref early stage.
sent out tons of dms and got back ~7-9 responses and 3 interviews lined up.
2 interviews : indian startups, one i fumbled hard(they asked me to code live :P )
second one went decent. they never replied again.
got an interview lined up by yc startup, they cancelled 5 mins before the meet. (had high hopes w this one man)
another indian startup interview, this went super good. haven't heard back from them since a week tho.
1 startup said that they are looking for FT onsite role rn (not possible atp due to clg)
other one, asked for my resume and portfolio, chat continued then ghosted ;)
(btw, each interview was a discussion on my projects, experience and the things that i have built and worked on in the past. in very depth. questioning each line on my resume. but no dsa/lc except 1)
rn idk what i should do, i want to go back to building projects again and working on my skills. but somewhere i feel like i need to go all in on interview prep. DSA LC grind ( i hate) sys design - this is weird coz i study system design from a real incident perspective, i read blogs, reports of giants and implement them if it makes me curious. cant really "study" it.
also, atp i feel like i have dm'd literally every founder/ceo of startups man.
but we do not stop. onwards and upwards. getting my shit together. we start posting about backend devv and cool stuff again folks!
Working with ip cameras and rtsp feed ingestion support directly for recall. Tons of edge cases i am dealing with right now. It's fun tbh.
Whenever i work with video, i realise how great ffmpeg is.
Ig i should praise @FFmpeg first thing in the morning!
it's so hard for me to have a conversation on tech to someone who gets their knowledge from reels. Or any kind of short form content for that matter.
The other day, a classmate came upto me asking what I think about the deep infra gh repo and deepseek's inference optimizations, i said a few lines and his reply on that made me playback the exact reel he got that info from.
Half baked knowledge is something that i suffer with too. But will fix it and we move onwards.
Not saying reels are not informative. Sm reels (v less) are! But if you are genuinely interested, get your verticals right instead of stacking up horizontals
One of the perks of learning at your own pace, building projects and just being curious in the tech field is how you can reason out your way in college vivas.
I don't remember preparing for any of my viva (except non tech subjs) for the past 2 years of college
