Ta-Nehisi Coates in Seattle about the Democratic Party in this moment:
“If you can’t stand up against genocide, why should I believe you can stand up for democracy?”
It’s truly remarkable how she hasn’t mentioned Medicare for all once or how any of this fertility journey is related to the state of US healthcare. Like truly remarkable for someone claiming to be socialist
If "defund" is so toxic, why aren't progressives willing to say "I support funding the police" instead of engaging in pundit-brain takes about the wisdom of the "slogan"?
Ta-Nehisi Coates on Kamala Harris’ 2024 Presidential campaign:
“And yet… why are we here? Are we here to just act like white men have acted everytime before?”
“The struggle means to me not just that we would get the boot of our necks, but that we would destroy the boot, that this would not happen to other people.”
AOC is such fraudulent trash for shifting the entire discourse to “woke” and not being honest about how the Dem establishment and the corporate media WEAPONIZED identity politics in order to sabotage popular policy and candidates who would authentically fight for that policy.
One reason it's hard to build a Black Left is that folks know that the same people who washed their hands of Hong when she needed them the most, will do the same with Black communities and politics, when it gets serious and it's time to do stuff for Black people, on terms set out by Black Leftists.

DSA-NYC is jumping through insane hoops rn to justify zohran pivoting to the status quo and all the sudden you see exactly why 95% of their membership is white leftist lmfaooooo
People have made several good points about this, but I’d like to call out the language of “change, develop, grow” that specifically positions opposing the belief in radical policy change to benefit poor Black people (the “most marginalized”) as “growth” rather than regression.
I think this phrase has become the left’s version of a “Sister Souljah moment”, where politicians can signal they’re serious by publicly denouncing and distancing themselves from really crazy ideas like “dismantling institutions that target Black people for violence”.
I can't believe people are really talking about AOC as a left presidential contender when on the eve of a critical primary she decided to produce a totally irrelevant news story about her parenting choices instead of backing the socialist
Black Lives Matter was the largest social uprising in the history of this country. Watching Democrats distance themselves from it and reduce it to woke memes serves as proof that Dr. King was justified in his hatred for moderates/liberals.
BREAKING: 6 US Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier have tried to jump overboard and attempted suicide, as catastrophic mental health crisis reaches breaking point over exhaustion, food shortages, water contamination, deteriorating conditions, supply shortages, lack of basic hygiene products, and poor-quality rations aboard the carrier, per Military Times.
The ~5,000 sailors and Marines have been deployed at sea for more than 250 consecutive days (over 9 months) without making land due to the ongoing Iran war, with the deployment originally anticipated to end in May but now extended with no publicly announced return date. Families describe conditions aboard as "hellish."
US CENTCOM commanders warn of an impending mutiny if conditions aboard the ship don't change for the better, with Iranian strikes on US military bases having severely disrupted logistics for the deployed sailors and Marines.
Yes this. It would be one thing to side step the question, but @ZohranKMamdani is actively spreading misinformation about the link between police funding and crime. He’s doing Copaganda.
AOC's problem is that she is ideologically unmoored. She can't cast herself as a pragmatist because hasn't done anything, and she can't cast herself as thought leader because she isn't deep enough.
Honestly, anyone who actually believes in anything would have to be crazy to join a movement led by her.
We gave her the benefit of the doubt because she was young, pretty, and seemed transparent. And I don't necessarily think that it's a BAD thing that she is in Congress, but I can't imagine why anyone would trust her. She'll throw your cause under a bus, then make you seem naive for believing that she wouldn't throw your cause under a bus.
Do not get duped into thinking that "woke 1 was crazy" is about denouncing standpoint epistemology, solipsistic moral grandstanding, or unwillingness to build strategic coalitions. It is specifically about denouncing "defund the police." This is what Zohran and AOC mean.
