Today, we celebrate the women who carry generations with quiet strength, hold families together through storms, and still find ways to pour love into the world even when they are running on empty.
To every mother, guardian, auntie, grandmother, and woman showing up with care every single day. We see you. We honour you. Happy Mother’s Day.

Day 4 | TOT led #SheriayaVijana training on Leadership & Advocacy!
In today’s world, digital skills are no longer optional, and for young people working in #climate and #advocacy spaces, they have become a critical part of staying relevant, effective, and truly impactful in the work they do.
As our TOT-led trainings at YMCA Central come to a close, today’s first session, facilitated by Veronica Kahutu, focused on how #youngpeople can practically use AI and digital tools to strengthen their work across advocacy, business, and climate action spaces.
Breaking Down AI into Practical Use
Rather than approaching AI as a complex concept, the session simplified it into clear, usable skills that participants can apply immediately:
🔹Understanding how to communicate with AI through effective prompt writing
🔹 Structuring prompts by clearly defining goals, context, and expected outcomes
🔹 Improving results through follow-up questions and refinement
🔹 Using AI tools to support research, writing, and everyday productivity
Participants also explored commonly used tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Grammarly, and Microsoft Copilot, gaining a better understanding of how these tools can support their work when used intentionally.
Balancing Opportunity with Responsibility
The session also created space to reflect on the responsible use of AI, emphasising the importance of protecting personal and organisational data, being aware of bias in generated content, and verifying information before applying it in real-world contexts.
Why This Training Matters
As young people continue to take up space in climate and advocacy work, the ability to use digital tools effectively is becoming just as important as understanding #policy and systems, because it shapes how ideas are communicated, how work is organised, and how impact is scaled.
The Power of Youth-Led Learning
Through the #SheriayaVijana project, funded by European Union in Kenya, young people are being equipped with knowledge as well as being trusted to lead the learning process, creating a space where peers can learn from each other in ways that are more relatable, practical, and grounded in shared experiences.
By using a Training of Trainers model, the project is intentionally creating a ripple effect where knowledge does not remain within the training room but is passed on, expanded, and applied across different #communities, strengthening not just individual capacity but collective impact.

Communities hold the solutions to the climate challenges they face, and today we are taking a big step in supporting those solutions.
We have joined @WeWorldOnlus at PrideInn Azure for the official launch of the sub-granting initiative under the #SikilizaSautiYetu Project, bringing together Civil Society Organizations and Community-Based Organizations from Nairobi, Isiolo, and Kwale.
Through this initiative, various grassroot organizations, including women-led and youth-led groups, will receive financial support to implement community-driven #climatesolutions that respond directly to the realities on the ground.
Implemented together with other consortium partners including @crawntrustkenya and Barnfonden, this initiative seeks to strengthen the role of grassroots organizations in shaping #sustainable and locally driven #climateaction.
Stay tuned for more updates from the launch👊

The #SikilizaSautiYetu Consortium represented by the @Oayouthkenya, has joined the #SRHR Consortium at Kayole 1 Comprehensive School to celebrate International Women’s Day.
This day is about honoring the strength, resilience, and voices of women and girls in our communities, and empowering them to take charge of their health, rights, and futures.
Our contribution today is shining a light on the critical connection between #climatechange and sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR).
From extreme weather affecting access to water and food, to disruptions in education and health services, climate challenges impact women and girls most deeply. Understanding these links is vital so that we can plan, adapt, and protect the wellbeing of our communities.
By giving knowledge, support, and opportunities to young people and community members today, we are taking steps to gain stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.
The energy here is inspiring, with participants actively learning, asking questions, and sharing their experiences.
This year's #InternationalWomensDay is a reminder that women and girls are at the center of change, and by supporting their voices today, we are shaping a future where every community thrives. 🌸💚

Young people talk about #climatechange every day — but rarely in ways that actually reflect their reality. So we decided to listen differently!
Through the #Nairogreen SingFest campaign, we gave them a chance to use what they have — their talent, their voices, their creativity — to speak about climate change in ways that matter.
This is us at a 2nd location, Tropical Gardens in Ruiru, bringing a climate anthem to life in a song that will, no doubt, get your attention.
From start to finish, every step was youth-led. Directed and shot by @StudioMashinani, the #youngpeople actively shaped the message, reflecting their experiences, their language, and the urgency they feel about the #environment.
Of course, it wasn’t all easy. There were long hours, visible fatigue, and moments where energy dipped. But there were also smiles, focus, laughter, and that unmistakable spark when passion meets purpose. We pushed through because the end goal was bigger than any single take.
The result? Pure magic🔥. A song that carries weight, hope, and a message for the environment.
And this? This is just the beginning... We cant wait for you to hear this anthem 🤗.

Prankster Nairobi Villager leads a 63-hour peace walk challenge from Nairobi CBD to Mt Kenya
The journey from Nairobi CBD to Mt Kenya is symbolic—connecting the city to the countryside, different #communities, and shared struggles.
Through this peace walk, Prankster Nairobi Villager and fellow youth advocates are using movement, visibility, and endurance to spark conversations on coexistence, dialogue, and non-violence—especially among young people who often feel unheard.

Young people walking through different streets, towns, and communities in a determined bid to complete the #63hourpeacewalk challenge from Uhuru Park to Mt Kenya!
Beyond the distance and endurance, the walk is about spreading #peace awareness, encouraging #dialogue, and reminding communities that #unity begins with everyday choices.

Stella Agara: As a region, we are in a very delicate situation. We are at a crossroads as East Africa. When people show us their character we should believe them. Madam Suluhu was the deputy of the late Magufuli around which this same man was shot at and almost killed and came to get treatment in Kenya. We now find ourselves in a situation where the deputy president in that government found herself into the presidency and she's behaving the same way.
