Many of you will use surveys and interviews in your research. But have you considered whether your participants and especially those with lived experience are genuine?

Too good to be true: Hidden challenges of online research recruitment - Bethany Probert, Jennifer Godber, Avril Drummond, 2025 https://t.co/ZZ73pIsUlu
What a fabulous time at #uksf24 Thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences and talk about sex and intimate relationships after ABI with @jenellgod@hayleymwright@AimeeResearch - I feel very privileged.
While Dr Aimee Walker Clark reminded us that “We had to get over ourselves” when talking about sex.
“People will talk if you ask them about sex”.
As health professionals and researchers, we owe it to people affected by stroke to extend them that courtesy. ❤️
A great first day at #uksf24. Proud as bunch to stand up with these ladies and encourage conversations about sex and relationships across the stroke pathway.
When speaking about sex after stroke at #UKSF24, Jennifer Godber shared a quote from a carer.
‘When I looked at my partner, I no longer saw him, I just saw a to-do list.’
The challenges faced by stroke-affected couples can only be addressed if spoken about openly and honestly.
@musedNeuroOT@AvrilDrummond1@ElizabethCasso1 Findings already suggest barriers in terms of gender and sexual preferences, underscoring the importance of intersectionality in professional practice.

When I started my journey in academia I had a chat about research interests. I remember saying ‘my head has some crazy ideas’ followed by a burst of topics including sex/dating/parenting following ABI @bethany_probert, @jenellgod it seems this wasn’t crazy after all #RCOTSSNP#OT
Jennifer Godber and Bethany Probert present their PhD research so far on sex and intimacy including effects of neurological conditions, discomfort starting conversations and sex is an ADL and OT role in addressing. Important to start the conversation #PLiSSiT#rcotssnp
Excellent talk and discussion from @jenellgod and @bethany_probert on ‘Ending the silence: sex and intimacy after ABI’
Encouraging us to at minimum open the door to these discussions. Sex is an ADL and we don’t have to have all the answers @RCOT_NP
