I'd really love to get to 1000 followers so I can spread Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to a wider audience. Anyone care to help me out?
I will of course follow back 😊

When you suffer its usual to think that something's wrong with *you*- that you're broken. Receiving a psych-label can compound this. But think again: your suffering is often a functional response to hurt/loss; a protest against unmet needs or what holds you back. Heed yourself.

"Until recent decades—when people with vaginas have made painstaking headway into the realms of science & health—the pursuit of such knowledge has been left to men. To put it lightly, they blew it."

@theresistantth1@JonathanShedler I agree, I think it can be helpful also in situations where it supports the client to behave in a way consistent with their values/goals, but maybe the outcomes aren't obvious yet so you show approval initially, until the client is able to track the positive outcomes themselves?
A lot of ‘attention deficit’ in young boys, for example, is more a deficit in the capacity of the environment to provide the right understanding, care & stimulus; a deficit in its willingness to accommodate & nurture what can often be the seeds of creative diversity & difference.
@drsharonholland @BipolarBlogger It isn't even a "one person" problem, this is a system problem. If you're going into a system already being told that you're to blame, or your experiences aren't valid... How is it supposed to cultivate an environment that helps people to function and live better?
@drsharonholland @BipolarBlogger Completely agree! I was taught in my training that clinical notes are for facts and not opinions or comments on how we feel about a situation... Definitely one for supervision
@natashaeusher @BipolarBlogger If you don't wash your hair frequently it begins to create its own natural oils... But that's far beyond the point... I don't think this has a place in anyone's clinical notes :(
This title happened to catch my eye - I've never really thought about policing before. Like teachers and postal workers they're just there... But the idea that they're enforcing inequality... I need to know more #inequality#PoliceReform@voxdotcom

Appreciating my hubby who is working hard to sort our finances, buy our first home, support family (& make sure I'm happy)... Whilst I'm here, getting my hair caught on a hanger and flailing around in my wardrobe for 5 minutes like one of those inflatable tube men in the wind!

Clients often feel defined by their stories, which can be unhelpful when trying to refocus on creating a purposeful life & making meaningful steps fwd. So, how do you help someone give themselves permission to move on?
@JessieinAwe Thanks Jessie, that's super helpful!
I'll definitely take a look at Kenneth Gergen & self as social construction lit. Of the hexaflex I seem to find self as context the hardest to get my head around, so that's identified something I can definitely work on 😁
