Imagine a tech conference having no CFP, as they reach out to speakers directly. They successfully attract some of the most heavy hitter men speakers in tech, and 3 women speakers.

Now imagine my surprise that 2 of those women are FAKE profiles.

They do not exist.

Nada.

In the years since the pandemic, I've noticed the number of influential women in the React community dry up despite efforts at inclusion and working groups from the core team. Part of this is the times—the pandemic fell mostly on women's shoulders and there was a reduction in women in the labor force for it. But it is also probably related to the companies now stewarding the React community and their general lack of interest in diversity or inclusion as well as current conference organizers and advocates leaning on "old boys networks."

It's going to take some effort to get things back to where they were (which was not that great to begin with). If you do business in the react community, you're both part of the problem and can be part of the solution.
