@HalfwayPost Oh, he passed that line a looooong time ago! To think he even had to ask his staffers the question, if true, is proof positive. It speaks to the total chaos and imploding of his administration. Republican here voting blue all the way down the ballot 💙
The quarterback who beat Alabama tonight is named George MacIntyre.
The last George MacIntyre to beat Alabama was his grandfather.
Tonight the grandson made just his second career start, in Neyland Stadium, against the number six team in the country. Tennessee won it 26 to 10.
Here is the whole thing.
His grandfather was also named George MacIntyre, and he was the head coach at Vanderbilt.
Understand what that job was. The season before he got there Vanderbilt won one game and lost ten.
A few years in he had them at 8 and 4 and in a bowl game, only the third bowl in school history. He was named national coach of the year for it.
And one Saturday he took Vanderbilt into Tuscaloosa and beat Alabama 30 to 21 inside Bryant Denny Stadium.
Vanderbilt had not won a football game in the state of Alabama in forty four years.
That same afternoon ended a 26 game homecoming winning streak for Alabama.
Somebody called it an upset. He disagreed.
"This wasn't an upset."
Then it got hard.
He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and he lived with it for the last two decades of his life. He had to stop coaching because of it.
He passed in Nashville at 76 years old. Here is what the man who later ran the SEC said about him.
"He brought the qualities of honesty, integrity and character that made him successful on and off the field of play."
Now the family part.
Both of his sons went to Brentwood Academy outside Nashville. One of them, Mike, became a head coach too, at Colorado. The other one, Matt, stayed in Nashville.
Matt named his son George.
That kid grew up in Franklin, went to Brentwood Academy like his father and his uncle before him, and finished with 36 Division I offers. He is 6 foot 6.
Then he got to Tennessee and sat. Before last Saturday he had never started a college game. He had thrown nine passes, total.
Last Saturday he got his first start, on the road, and won.
Tonight he got his second one, at home, in a sold out Neyland, against Alabama.
He went 21 for 31 for 197 yards.
Now the honest part. That is a quiet line, and he did not throw a touchdown. Tennessee's defense took the ball away four times and held Alabama to 201 total yards, and the kicker made four field goals. Nobody is handing the quarterback this game.
But that is sort of the whole point of him.
He is a kid who had started one football game in his life, and he was asked to stand in that stadium against the number six team in America and not lose it. He didn't. He completed two out of every three throws, he handed it off, and he let his defense win it.
His grandfather coached exactly like that.
And when that man walked off the field in Alabama with a win, he was still more than a decade away from being told what was wrong with him.
Tonight the second George MacIntyre walked off with the same last name and the same result.
@FoxProMAGA@CBSNews You bring up the integrity of integrity of the news reporters? Interesting given the fact that the person they are covering doesn’t know the meaning of the word? Have you watched a WH briefing? Have you heard how degrading he speaks to media, esp females? smh
@RogerJStoneJr@Acosta You first, mr, waste of humanity. Enjoy your week ahead with your cane and cigar. Thanks for taking the time to respond to little 70 year old me! Made my day. 😘
@Bennett1Randy@RogerJStoneJr@Acosta Do you know ANYTHING about Roger Stone? Obviously not. I swear the Republican Party of which I’ve been a member for a lifetime have lost their minds.
@RpsAgainstTrump Perhaps that’s what needs to happen. Lifelong Republican here who has never been so disgusted with ANY administration. Tell me one reason I should vote for any incumbent in the midterms. Not happening!
@LucasSa56947288 No how! No way!
You have made a mockery of the constitution and have done NOTHING to help the American people. I’m a registered Republican and old! This is the worst administration of my long lifetime. I WILL NOT VOTE for any Republican in the midterms!
@DavidD41044@kaitlancollins She is one of the finest reporters covering the White House House and trying to stay true to journalism today. I’m a Republican so don’t blame my opinion on party lines. I just don’t swallow MAGA pills by the handfuls
@ClayTravis@finebaum@SECNetwork Ask UT fans what they think of Kiffin. He’s always been a man child who has to have things his way. IMHO, LSU should have looked at his past and how he’s run his programs. The SEC of old is unrecognizable. Allowing players to go Pro was the beginning of the end.
@Bonnell1074@CalltoActivism Oh dear Bonnie. Bless your heart, honey. I’m prob old enough to be your mom and a lifelong Republican. No longer. DT hasn’t stopped Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Aren’t you sick of paying what he’s charging you and the rest of us who aren’t billionaires yet?
@abdi_sultannn@Randomvideos107 Their job, essentially when talking to a child, or anyone for that matter, is to stay calm, keep the caller on the line and ask as many questions as possible. These operators are trained to protect the responding officers, as well as the victims. Domestic violence is real
@LucasSa56947288 Trump trashed it. It’s a disgrace but not surprising. And who do you think paid for this? We the People did. He can’t handle seeing the palaces of foreign leaders, aka “Palace Envy”.
He’d have his “manhood” gilded if anyone could find it, aka “Penile Envy”.
