I've been waiting for stuff like this to hit American toy shelves since 1989. Affordable model kits of Japanese franchises in the US. Was beginning to think I wouldn't live to see it.
I don't suppose I need to say this but the PHP situation has affected my website. I have no update about it. At some point, regardless of what happens to the original site, I will have a site for the comic again. Since the entire internet is on fire I doubt I'm top priority.
@TrickshotTF I've got a lot going on right now but if I find the spare Rumble I'll sell it to you for shipping plus whatever I paid for it if you still need one.
I read manga because the Japanese way of storytelling has features unique to their culture. Bending it to suit my culture defeats the point of cultural appreciation and exchange. When cultures meet it should make more culture, not warp one into a pale facsimile of the other.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.
Anime and manga are made by Japanese people, for Japanese people. They are the target audience.
Non-Japanese people can absolutely enjoy it. They’re just not who it was made for.
It frequently depicts situations that Japanese people instinctively understand and relate to. You can learn the language, but you still can’t truly empathize with something like the Japanese high school experience unless you actually lived it.
Not being the target audience doesn’t mean you can’t like it. It just means it isn’t tailored to your sensibilities…and it doesn’t need to be.
Keep Japanese media Japanese!
