My first published piece is out now in The Audacity. It is taking a minute for this to really sink in. Thank you so much @rgay@megpillow for treating my work with such care.

“You become the writer who can write the book you want to write by writing the book you want to write.”
👆🏼maybe the most surprising—and wonderful—thing I discovered this past year. Grateful to have found @mdbell79’s substack today.

In this blog post, I quote one of my favorite substack essays, “The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling” by @beunscripted in The Audacity newsletter (@rgay). Thank you for writing this wonderful piece, Bernadette!✨

Joy, not fear

Stuck in a rewriting process that was going nowhere (read: staring at pages in utter despair, zero actual writing), I read each of these essays about 100 times each. Read to the bottom, scrolled up, read again. After a few days of this, I am finally—finally!—writing again 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
“You are tenebrescent. You were made to deepen in light. In joy. In humor, connection, and play.
