TEFL teachers and BE trainers: Have you had a pay rise yet? 💸 Inflation in Germany is climbing again — food & services are getting pricier. If your salary hasn’t moved, you’re effectively taking a pay cut. Don’t wait. Review, negotiate, insist. Silence ≠ better, fairer future.
We're here to hold bad #TEFL bosses to account - and we're starting with Escape Campus!

Exploited freelance and employed Business English workers need knowledge of their rights—you can’t fight for protections you don’t know you have. Awareness breaks through intimidation, sparks collective action, and drives real change by making exploitation visible and unstoppable
🔥 Freelancers, heads up! Meet Helen* — a Business English trainer in Germany caught in legal limbo. Controlled by a language school but “independent”? German courts say if they control your work & schedule, you’re likely an employee, not a freelancer. https://t.co/f5QXe5BvMY
What is your first order of business this year? For many, we would say a pay rise! Minimum wage has gone up. Anyone over 18 working fulltime in Germany shouldn't get less than €2,400/month gross. And twice this for freelancers if you want to make ends meet.
The Learnship bosses may not have kept the teachers informed, but your #union is here to make sure all Learnship teachers are informed and organised no matter what happens next!

Across Germany, freelancer workers charge an average of around €104/hour. Even in lower-skilled or entry-level freelance fields, the going rate is €20–30/hour — and that is clearly the absolute floor. Why are language trainers accepting less? https://t.co/fbVrpok4b5
Do you work for a German school or online provider? Remember, minimum wage goes up 8.5% on 1 Jan 2026. Full-time employees should expect a salary of at least €2,400/month, 20 days paid holiday, state pension contributions and other legal entitlements. And freelancers need more!
Online ELT: bogus self-employment, dodgy online platforms, and bosses that keep us isolated from our workmates. But if we come together, we can hold the bosses to account. Just like the Learnship teachers!

Learnship trainers, strike while the iron is hot!
Learnship's CEO admits takeover talks and late payments. 200+ trainers are now united across WhatsApp & social media — and that unity is power.
Takeovers = risk. Demand a seat at the table.

Learnship teachers deserve better. And that's why our #union has got their back. We're going to make sure the teachers get what they're owed.

IMPORTANT: If you’re a Learnship trainer and haven’t connected with your colleagues yet, please reach out. They have up-to-date info, are coordinating action together, and run a 200-member WhatsApp group—so you won’t have to face this alone.
