This is an odd thing to say. Learning disability is not an illness or disease. Yes, we need learning disability nurses .....sometimes. If I had a learning disability, first and foremost, I'd want my humanity to be seen by everybody I met.....with no presumption I needed a nurse.
@CommunityLd @WeLDnurses Yes too true and then the impact this is having on detained patients who have capacity, who are becoming stuck in hospitals when ready to transition back into the community with support.
To all my fellow learning disability nurses, how about an annual learning disability nursing harvest? This will build on the amazing work we've showcased for our 100 years celebrations, and continue to strengthen our profile. You in?

Fabulous celebration day of the 837 years experience #NHS70 Northumberland learning disability team partnership @NTWNHS @NorthumbriaNHS@trish_churchill
#Northumberland Our crews have worked hard to clear the #A1 in both directions, between the junctions of the #A1068 near #Alnwick and the #Scottish border following severe weather. The road is now fully open. Have a safe onward journey.
