As a Japanese person, I keep trying to make the arithmetic work, and I cannot.

Britain has finally opened a statutory national inquiry into the grooming gangs. Baroness Longfield chairs it. Sixty five million pounds. Three years. The first national hearings begin at the end of this year.

Three years.

In Rotherham alone the abuse ran for sixteen years while the police, the council and the social workers all knew.

So the counting now looks like this.

Sixteen years to ignore it.
Twelve more years, after the Jay Report, to argue about whether a national inquiry was even allowed to exist.
Three years to hold the hearings.

A girl who was eleven when it started is a woman past thirty before anyone official is required to sit down and listen to her.

In Japan we are taught that Britain built the modern idea of due process. I believe that. I have read about it since I was a boy.

So I am asking honestly, not to score a point off anyone.

How does a country this old, this experienced, this proud of its own courts, end up with a timetable where the victims age faster than the investigation?

I had to read this three times before I could believe it was real.

Rotherham. A small town in northern England.

For sixteen years, at least 1,400 children — some as young as eleven — were raped, gang-raped, and trafficked between cities by organized groups of men.

Eleven years old.
Petrol was poured on them so they would stay quiet.
Their families were threatened with death.
Photos were taken and used as blackmail.

The police knew.
The council knew.
The social workers knew.

For sixteen years, not one of them moved.

Why?
Because officers were afraid of being called racist if they acted on what they were seeing.
That was the whole reason.
While children were being sold, adults were protecting their own reputations.

That is the moment something in you breaks.

And here is the part that makes it worse.

The TV networks did not report it. The papers did not chase it.
When the journalist Andrew Norfolk finally broke the story, even he thought maybe 150 girls had been hurt.
The real number was 1,400.
He was staggered.

This should have been the biggest story of the decade. It was not.
The networks looked away. The advertisers preferred safer topics.
The cover-up did not end when the report was published — it continued in the silence of every newsroom that refused to chase it.

Then Elon Musk bought X.

The advertisers fled.
The press declared the platform finished.
X almost did not survive.

But it did.

And on X, the names of those towns started trending.
Rotherham.
Telford.
Rochdale.
Oldham.

Towns the country had been told to forget.

Britain understands itself differently today.
Not because the politicians confessed.
Not because the broadcasters apologized.
Because one platform refused to let it stay buried.

X almost did not survive.
1,400 children almost stayed forgotten.

That is worth saying out loud.

People assume Japan is safe from this. We are not, and I would rather be honest about where we actually stand.

Last year Japan recorded 2.57 million foreign workers. The highest number in our history.

Our government's answer this January was a policy package with a title that took me a while to translate properly.

Comprehensive Measures for Accepting Foreign Nationals and Orderly Coexistence.

Read that title again slowly.

Accepting is a decision. Orderly coexistence is a hope.

There was no referendum. There was no election fought over the number. It was announced, and then it was the plan.

I am not writing this to warn Britain or America. You are further down this road than we are and you already know what is on it.

I am writing it because Japanese people are still being told this is a technical labour question, and I would like us to stop pretending we did not watch what happened to countries we love.

Oh look. My school district @PoudreSchools is posting about Suicide Prevention again and how they’re “committed to creating a supportive space for every student.”

They also turned comments off to prevent community interaction. Again.

That “supportive space” is the same environment that:
• introduced my daughter to gender ideology
• had “trusted adults” convince her she was born in the wrong body
• taught her that concept of suicide
• told her that parents who don’t affirm a new identity are “unsafe”
• pushed her into the impossible pursuit of becoming the opposite sex
• taught her that being trans means she is at higher risk of suicide

Guess what happened next? She became suicidal. They almost killed her — And I SAVED HER LIFE. They thrust her into darkness — And I held her in her darkest moments. They broke her — And I put the pieces back together.

This isn’t prevention. It’s the district congratulating itself while parents who actually lived the damage are locked out of the conversation.

Palestinian terrorists stormed the Christian town of Damour in Lebanon and killed 582 Christian civilians.

A priest who survived described it as “the end of the world.”

He said: “They came by the thousands, shouting, ‘Allahu Akbar! Kill them for the Arabs. Let us offer a sacrifice to Muhammad!’ They slaughtered everyone in their path: men, women and children.”

Men were lined up against their homes and shot. Women were tortured and repeatedly raped. Infants were shot in the back of the head. Fetuses were torn from pregnant women’s wombs.

One of them had to get up and go to school the next day. Their Irish parents had literally nowhere else to go.

Meanwhile, thousands (and I mean thousands) of blacks, Muslims, Asian migrants flood our shores every month and get accommodated immediately.

Hannah was described as normal, happy and precocious in her first 18 months.

Then, in July 2000, she was vaccinated against nine diseases in one doctor's visit: measles, mumps, rubella, polio, varicella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and Haemophilus influenzae.

Afterward, her health declined rapidly. She developed high fevers, stopped eating, didn't respond when spoken to, began showing signs of autism, and began having screaming fits.

In 2002, Hannah's parents filed an autism claim in federal vaccine court. Five years later, the government admitted vaccines caused her autism, settled quietly before it could become a landmark case, and had it sealed.

CDC officials continued to call the vaccine-autism link "debunked" and a "quack" theory.

2008 was an interesting year for vaccines.

That's the year the formerly-sealed case of Hannah Poling leaked to the public. (I later reported on the case for CBS News. I'll link to that in this thread.)

In Hannahs' case, the govt. (which represents vaccine makers in court, believe it or not) conceded that Hannah's vaccines caused her autism.

Mind you, the govt. and head of CDC were denying this in public.

We didn't know it at the time, but the govt's own top expert witness in vaccine-autism cases, pediatric neurologist Dr. Andrew Zimmerman, had shocked the govt. by telling them (DOJ lawyers) that vaccines can cause autism, after all. But instead of helping kids and revealing the truth, the DOJ fired Dr. Zimmermand as an expert witness and misrepresented his opinion in court thereafter.

Anyhow, the govt. secretly paid the Poling family a multi million dollar settlement, but then had the case sealed so no other parents would find out. Public health officials continued to tell other parents they were imagining things.

Meantime, many experts said that separating multi vaccines into individual doses is inherently safer. Some parents were opting to get their kids Measles and Mumps vaccines separately, for example, rather than giving them the combo Measles, Mumps, Rubella shot.

How did the maker of MMR, Merck respond?

Merck stopped making the individual shots in the U.S.
