@GayTory Problem is (I am of an age and ok-ish) most places have an entry cost in getting set up or are a bit shit.
The bet is that they are too incompetent to implement nearly all of this shit. Although I do think they'll remove the local authority cap instead
@alexmassie@MattCon90191238 DWP writes to people informating how much their pension is worth based on their NI contributions. I got mine recently. Pensions are funded from current tax because previous govts spent the NI contributions. Existing NI contributions more than cover pension commitments (86%)
@reporterboy@WheeledEscape Past performance in government would be a start. The inept, incompetent and venal are pretty much still there. Without that the Tories are too toxic to ever be more than a rump of 20-25% of the hopeful over experience.
@DavidGauke Have you checked out the economy recently? The £120bn deficit, the inability to generate growth, build anything & the obscene costs when we try. Its a world the Tories created from 2010 (all of you) & Labour are taking to the extreme. You admit no reponsibility for any of it?
@FUDdaily@MonkMD1 I can't escape the feeling its all cosplay by deeply unserious people on all sides, who are part of a self sustaining 'professional' political class who would struggle in most other walks of life.
@reporterboy There is something of the absurd in everyone of the major poltical parties. The worse things get, the more unserious the politicans we elect are.
The age of entitlement as the governing class's ideology and the 7 out of 10 who don't pay their way. Its going to get much worse
@LoftusSteve All a very possible outcome. You left out the organised opposition to them that will most likely lead to civil disorder. And the resistance from the civil service and possibly the cops.
Even if they were competent, there would be a huge shitshow. But this govt? Or the Tories?
@path_dependent@SamCoatesSky@gm_stone@JoeCookJ Oh and while you're at it do the same with public sector pensions as there is no pension fund to pay for them, they are also funded out of taxation. Call them what they are, a lifeltime bonus.
@path_dependent@SamCoatesSky@gm_stone@JoeCookJ Start by not calling it 'national insurance' and also by not showing how much your contributions are 'worth' - you get sent a breakdown of what your pension will be. So the link is and has been established by the state.
To change the fallacy, just wrap it into income tax
@GayTory Given all his flaws, if you think this country is failing - what is the alternative? Although I totally get they would add to the tumult, maybe bringing matters to a head is needed ? Mind you Burnham may do the job first and maybe is a crash is needed to reset?
@reporterboy@z4ppp4 I realise that Farage took the cash directly, and should have declared, but aside from process what is the difference between that and Dale Vance donating £5m to the labour party (where the capos then pay it out) and getting contracts? Apart form Vance recieving tangible reward?
@reporterboy@z4ppp4 Did Starmer ever answer, did he ever go through the process? And what of Haigh? How come a convicted fraudster is still in parliment?
