As for government decisions,lots going on to undo a decade of decline. But will take time and might not include some of the things from the past as people choose new.

The leisure sector has always evolved and in the last 30 years or so the pace has been much quicker. Change is unsettling. Hopefully the reduced VAT for family summer leisure will be good.

@Jonatha52892622 @mikeparry8 @rachelreeves The best way to help them is for people to use them. We have fewer green grocers, butchers and post offices than before. The same reasoning applies. The world moves on, not always for the best or comfortable. But pubs don’t have the draw they used too.

The number of pubs has reduced, equally an explosion in micro breweries. Pubs are less popular than they were. Lots of other recreational things have opened.

I agree we need to do what we can to control this and support legal routes. However we’ve become fixated and those coming by any route are humans and should be treated with respect.
