1/ Filmed this during my morning stretch. 26 years as a PI lawyer. Above-knee amputee. Here are the 5 things every seriously injured person should do in the first 72 hours.
2/ Get checked out medically. Even if you feel fine. Injuries that don’t present immediately are common. A medical record from day one is invaluable to your claim.
3/ Photograph everything. Scene, injuries, vehicles. Your phone is in your pocket. These images can be the difference between a strong claim and a weak one.
4/ Do not speak to the other side’s insurer. They will call quickly. They are not on your side. Confirm your name and nothing else.
5/ Write it all down. What happened, how you feel, what you can’t do. Date it. Contemporaneous accounts carry real weight with judges and medical experts.
6/ Call a specialist lawyer early. Not a claims management company. A specialist. Early legal advice shapes every decision that follows.
7/ I know what those first hours feel like — personally and professionally. Get these five things right and you protect yourself from day one. 🎥
26 years as a PI solicitor. Above-knee amputee. One thing I wish every injured client knew earlier:
Your rehabilitation choices directly affect your claim — not just your recovery.
Insurers look at this. Judges look at this. Your expert reports reflect it.
Engage fully. Ask about interim payments for private rehab. Don’t wait to be told.

@MayorofLondon pursuing a disabled person for £1,300 for an unpaid London Congestion Charge which he is exempt is disgustingly. Expecting the disabled to report their disability when government depts issue the Blue Badges is unreasonable. @antmiddleton please become mayor!
Really looking forward to the next few months. Trialling 2 new knees. The Rheo 3 XC and C-Leg 4. Not a fan of the Orion - its robustness doesn’t keep up with me.
