The BeyondWIMPs organisers @DjunaCroon, @SmirnovJuri, and @EHardy88 are excited to welcome you to the next installment of our UK based Dark Matter Workshop!
We thank @durham_uni and @IPPP_Durham for hosting Vol. 2 of our workshop.
Full program: https://t.co/fPbHLvKamA
Liverpool is not just a science hub with the @LivUni but also a historic sports and cultural center in the North!
We’re looking forward to be back for the next iteration 🔁
Stay tuned … 😁
Throwback to one of the first pictures of MRC 🚣♂️
This year, we’re celebrating our 170th birthday, to celebrate we’re rowing 170km on the Liverpool docks
This will take 17-18 hours, so please come down to shout us on!(June 23)

Can’t stop discussing Physics!
From monopoles to molecular orbital excitations probably only few topics in physics were not touched upon, amazing last day at @durham_uni
Can black holes shine ✨ light on quantum gravity?
Most certainly, but how would we make use of it.
In the last talk for today @SannFrancesco presents a new effective framework to parametrise quantum effects on Schwarzschild black holes 🕳️
Could DM be promotional black holes? Or contain many? Great review by Anne @ultra_wimp: quite hard to produce them during inflation, large parameter space is ruled out, but at the end the asteroid mass ☄️ window is open, and would imply really odd early universe conditions 🤔
The last talk today is given by Miguel Crispim Romao (@MiguelCRomao) about opportunities for gravitational microlensing searches for extended dark objects.
These objects can give “batman” like signatures shining in our sky!
Luca Teodori has a solution for the “nightmare scenario” in which dark matter only interacts gravitationally with the Standard Model:
Fuzzy DM forms solitons, which can be identified using gravitational lensing time delays! These can give a significant shift in H0.
In the second part of this afternoon, Davide Racco is telling us about production mechanisms of non-WIMP dark matter.
Gravitational production requires no non-gravitational couplings to the Standard Model — the stuff of nightmares Luca was talking about!
