I came across a father yesterday - A short but real story.

Pramod (name changed) is also my patient, but that’s not important. The crucial part is that he is a father.

Most become fathers when their children are born. Pramod became a father due to a higher calling.

His daughter had kidney failure and needed a transplant. He was ready to donate his kidney without a second thought.

As bad luck would have it, he was found to have severe heart disease during the pre-op investigations.

Pramod had two 90% blocks and needed stenting. The doctors told him that he needs to wait at least three months before he can donate his kidney.

But his daughter’s condition deteriorated after two months. Her life was in danger. She couldn’t wait three months and he couldn’t give his kidney before three months.

Pramod made his decision.

He signed a declaration saying that he will accept the outcome if the doctors operate on him at two months. He wouldn’t listen to the dissuading doctors.

There was a great risk for his life during the surgery. But he took it willingly. That’s the love of a father for you.

Luckily, after the surgery, both are doing well. After six moths, his single kidney is malfunctioning slightly, but his proud smile overshadows it.

Why must a man of my father's caliber, who has accomplished so much for his country, state, and Telugu people, endure such injustice? Is it because he never stooped to engage in vendetta or destructive politics? Is it because he envisioned growth, welfare, and opportunities for our people long before others?

Today feels like a betrayal. But, my father is a fighter, and so am I. We will rise with an unstoppable force, guided by unwavering determination for Andhra Pradesh and Telugu people worldwide. I ask you to join me in this battle.
