Catholic countries are generally undereducated and thus poorer... Philippines, Mexico, etc. They may identify as Christian, but the have never studied, (been allowed to study) the Bible. I know, I was raised Irish Catholic. We partied, lived like a heathen; sometimes went to confession on Saturday and then drank all that night. Sunday was hit and miss. And then I met, like you, Jesus... Boom!

@FamilyProjectTX I am 76 years old. Three years out of college and in the business world, I learned an important lesson. Don't do business with Mormon's. There is a reason for the saying, " if a Mormon invites you to dinner, you're the meal." I carried that with me throughout my career.
