@Fat_Electrician Like you said, Celsius works for water, but it really only works for water near sea level and that happens to not be pure. Pure water in a container with nothing for ice crystals to form on will stay liquid down below -30C. Water boils on Everest at 68C (or 154F) too...
@starsnstripesfc Fun fact: with how the tournament brackets are set up, Canada and the US will end up squaring off in the semifinals. There is a chance that Canada loses yet another sport to a US team this year.
@RokkerBoyy "Supposedly" it was a joke. If it was a joke, it sure as hell doesn't have a punchline and makes it hard to take them seriously anyways. Either they're actually dumb or they risked their credibility on a third-rate joke.
@ReviewsPossum For me it's more knowing how little IQ actually means. I know the "if you've got an IQ of 100, half of the population is dumber than you" thing, but I have an IQ around ~120 and I still feel like an idiot. "IQ is fake" is the only answer I have that isn't terrifying to me.
@DogeBillionairr@Pantokrator1573 It's not even just the suicides is the worst part. There's actual footage of a few school shootings that got disarmed before a shot could be fired by what was basically an aggressive mental health intervention causing the would-be shooter to just drop the gun and give up to talk.
@USS_Honeybadger@harukaawake Two possibilities:
1. They started building it and nobody stopped to check if they had the permits/approval required.
2. They lied and got permits to build for another purpose.
If memory serves they've done the second for events before and enraged Japan, so it's not unheard of.
@japan_nobunaga As a wise man once said, everything is a weapon if it's moving fast enough. A tsunami's basically just a solid wall of water that carries its own shrapnel if it fails to take you out itself.
@TayTayTayT67373@Pantokrator1573 Maybe. My point was that the negative issues caused by the mental health situation are almost never connected back to it in favor of using them for other political goals. A staggering amount of gun deaths in the US (even discounting suicides) are mental health related in some way
@Pantokrator1573 Like, let's be real, the US absolutely has a mental health crisis that a ton of people like to pretend doesn't exist or isn't worse than the rest of the world. That's the one thing we undeniably need to work on and judging countries with a lower suicide rate is ignorant.
@Pantokrator1573 I feel like the guy who said that's blind to where the US sits too, which makes it worse. People like to go off on the US for gun violence when most gun-related deaths are suicides, but a lot of the US insists we don't have a problem with that number either.
@Hillbarian@realJeremyCarl It's not even colonialism. Their complaint about colonialism is that "the empire" extracts resources from the colonies to enrich itself. A nation so poor that it can't improve itself while being given resources, for free, isn't a colony by the standard definition.
@ArchLuminous@llallawg That's the part I don't get btw. Europe's solution is to basically complain that it's not "supposed" to be that hot in Europe as if lecturing nature itself will do something to fix it. Either it's controlled helplessness or they genuinely think nagging the climate will work.
@ChrisMartzWX There's also the fact that we're considered to be in the "interglacial" period of an ice age right now. Earth, for most of its existence, was a lot hotter than it is now. During the glacial periods of ice ages, it's also a lot colder than it is now. It could decide to be either.
@JessicaRenee026@lamont1940@noyeahobviously There's also the fact that, outside incorrect reporting, heat-related deaths ARE heat related. In the US, gun-related deaths include accidents, suicide, and gang violence. Of those, only one (accidents) can be solved directly by gun control. The other two aren't that easy.
@PoltFan69 From what I've heard from some people, it's actually deliberate. The idea is to set requirements that nobody can meet for positions they want to get rid of to disguise downsizing as being unable to find anyone willing/able to work the job. Looks better to investors or something.
@dylaln2@Peepers09572044 That and psychology. Most people aren't going to wander around pretending to be a seeker because that sounds crazy and contrary to how you're expected to play the game. Some random unpainted guy wandering slowly like they're looking for things is "seeker" behavior as a result.
@wylfcen The argument doesn't even work because you wouldn't buy goods from a merchant that always shows up late. Nor would you respect a farm hand that shows up halfway through the day during harvest season, of course.
@SomeBitchIIKnow Going to be honest, if you do something like this and tamper with evidence, it should be legally impossible for there to be a plea deal. If you weaken the trust in (and integrity of) the justice system with your position, the justice system should hit you full force, no mercy.
@japan_nobunaga One or two of your posts has actually been the subject of a dramatic reading on Youtube. More specifically I saw a video titled "Japanese man astounded by rotisserie chicken"
@AlexanderLotus@ShitpostRock Hitman at least has unique ways to kill your targets if you go the sneaky/clever way (Never forget you can trick a man into blowing up his daughter in the second modern Hitman game, then shove him into a race track while he's processing it) but you can absolutely kill everyone.
