With a small tax increase on DC's wealthiest residents we can end homelessness for thousands, put money in the pockets of working families, double wages for underpaid early childhood educators (Black and brown women), and fund child care like the vital infrastructure that it is!
Today at noon @councilofdc will vote to modestly increase the tax for DC's millionaires to end homelessness for 2,400 DC households. The decision is clear. Housing is a Human Right. Let's end homelessness and poverty in the District together #JustRecoveryDC

Our community members should not be footing this $43M bill - indeed, the community needs MORE support during this time. When the city's health and employment services are robbed of funding, people suffer.
People doing their job should get paid overtime, but community members should not be the ones footing this bill. Similarly, these payments should not come at the expense of organizations like ours, who serve those who are medically and employment insecure.

Great to catch up with @allyschweitzer for this article. @BreadfortheCity has seen upwards of a 400% increase in need - going from feeding 5,000 households a month to 5,000 a week in the span of this pandemic. The need will only increase without bold leadership. #JustReliefDC
We can't begin to measure our collective grief at the passing of John Lewis. We can only walk by his example and organize against the injustices we see in this world. #RIPJohnLewis
ICYMI last month I published my thoughts on the health disparities enabling #COVID19 to hit Black communities. We need significant investment in Black communities in DC to address these disproportionate health determinants. #BlackLivesMatterDC

These acts of murder by the very public servants sworn to protect us, whose salaries our tax dollars pay, have such a dark and painful history, that the criminal justice system seems incapable of ending. 2/2
