Today is the last day of Monkey. She has lived a good life, but she is finally ripe enough to eat. Her brown spots are all over and is very soft to the touch. She taste sweet and delicious, the perfect banana. #UFHortSci
Day 5 with Monkey and she is looking mighty fine! Her brown spots are popping! Her yellow color is coming out because there is diminishing amount of chlorophyll as the banana ripens.

Day 4 with Monkey! She looks so good today, almost good enough to eat(but I could never do that to her). All of the green spots and now gone, and is much less firm now. If I were to eat her now, she would most definitely be sweet! #UFHortSci
Day 3 with Monkey! She is currently in Stage 4 of the ripening process and I am so proud! Today she has some brown spots, but still some hints of green.

This semester I’m taking a class called Growing Fruit for Fun and Profit. This is my new bestie “Monkey” and I will be hanging out with her to see how she ripens! Today it’s still firm and green with spots of yellow. Can’t wait to see what type of banana she becomes! #UFHortSci
Day 2 of adventures with “Monkey”! She spends the day hanging next to the spices in my kitchen and my roomates know to not eat her, because that would be rude. She is ripening nicely and has become more soft and developed more brown spots! #UFHortSci
