As part of the Mental Health Awareness Day held on May 8, 2026, in Kamonyi District, @bforwanda facilitated a transformative group therapy session for rural Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) persons from Southern Rwanda.
Led by experienced mental health professionals, the session provided a safe space for healing and connection. Through targeted therapeutic exercises, participants were able to relax, find joy, and boost their overall mental well-being.

On May 8, 2026, in Kamonyi District, @bforwanda facilitated peer support group sessions for SGM individuals from Southern Rwanda. Participants opened up about their journeys in regards to navigating daily challenges, managing stress, and safeguarding their mental well-being.
25 participants joined an intensive capacity building session aimed at boosting their understanding of mental health. They gained vital knowledge on identifying depression, PTSD & minority stress, while mastering practical coping mechanisms to navigate complex social challenges.
On May 8, 2026,@bforwanda held a vital Mental Health Awareness Day in Kamonyi District for rural SGM individuals and KPs from Southern Rwanda. Promoting mental well-being for marginalized communities facing high stigma & discrimination is at the core of our rights-based mission.

DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS | SRHR TRAINING IN KAMONYI DISTRICT, SOUTHERN RWANDA
On April 17, 2026, @bforwanda wrapped up a powerful 2-day SRHR training for rural SGM & key populations.
Day 2 focused on practical, life-saving skills.
Key Takeaway:
Participants were empowered to become community champions, using their knowledge to challenge misinformation, reduce stigma, fight discrimination and share accurate SRHR information with peers.Knowledge is power and when shared, it becomes a tool for transformation.
DAY ONE | SRHR Training Highlights: On April 16-17 @bforwanda held a 2-day intensive training on SRHR for rural SGM & Key Populations in Kamonyi District.
Day 1 covered SOGIESC concepts, sexuality, HIV/STI risks, prevention,empowering participants to challenge stigma and myths.
Beyond education, the workshop created a safe space for community; participants shared experiences on preventing & managing HIV & STIs and committed to safer health practices. They also received prevention tools, including condoms & lubricants, to support safer sexual practices.
The training tackled the disproportionate impact of HIV & STIs within marginalized communities by equipping participants with tailored and latest information on HIV/AIDS. The training covered key HIV transmission, symptoms, prevention strategies, treatment & safer sex practices.
@bforwanda hosted a targeted training on March 13, 2026, for 35 Sexual & Gender Minority individuals from rural Southern Rwanda. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing HIV & STI high prevalence among KPs through inclusive SRH education and prevention efforts.
On Tue, March 3, 2026 @bforwanda along with the Clinical Psychology Students Association of Rwanda (CPSAR) discussed with GIZ Rwanda/RBP program how to join forces in advancing inclusive and affirming mental health services for sexual and gender minority individuals in Rwanda.
On Jan 23, 2026,@bforwanda facilitated peer support groups for SGMs & KPs in Kamonyi District. Participants discussed human rights under Rwanda’s Constitution,shared lived experiences of rights violations & reflected on coping strategies to resist violence & affirm their dignity.
On Jan 23, 2026, @bforwanda held a SOGIESC capacity-building session for SGMs & KPs in Kamonyi District. The training strengthened the use of respectful, affirming language to challenge stigma, discrimination and empowered participants to advocate for their dignity and equality.
A highly eventful year 2025 at @bforwanda : Peer support groups facilitated by @bforwanda on a regular basis, create safe and affirming spaces that enable rural marginalized individuals to express themselves freely, without fear of judgment, stigma, or discrimination.
