On Team Culture and Dynamics:
One person's dysfunction has 5x the impact of one person's discipline.
That's why you must prevent dysfunction from forming roots. And why when it does, everyone else must elevate their discipline to put out the fire of dysfunction.
The current culture pressures youth coaches to rush judgement on kids’ athletic ability and “weed out the weak.” This is very shortsighted. A primary purpose for youth sports is to foster love for the game. With nearly 3/4 kids quitting by 13, perhaps adults are misguiding them?
Players can have a lot of distractions in their lives. Often it’s people telling them what they want to hear. Things like how great they are, or that their coach should be playing them more. High performers stay focused on playing hard, competing, and improving every day.
Just because you’re in the library, doesn’t mean you’re studying. Just because you’re in the gym, doesn’t mean you’re getting better. Just because you’re at work, doesn’t mean you’re working hard.

“Noah didn’t stop building the ark to explain himself to every doubter.”
He just simply kept building!
Folks are going to doubt, question, and not believe in your ARK (program/brand) that you’re building, but don’t you stop: KEEP BUILDING!

8 Realities of a High School Coach
1. It will consume you
2. There will be critics
3. You are not in it for the $
4. There is no overnight success
5. You need a supportive spouse
6. You will not make everyone happy
7. You can’t want it more than the kids
8. It is still WORTH it!

PARENTS: Do you have a ME-first or WE-first mindset with your child’s team?
Successful Teams have WE-first Parents.
When parents work together to create memories for the entire team, KIDS Win.
If your sole focus is on YOUR child, everyone loses, especially your child.
