Thrilled that Adena Ishii will be Berkeley’s next mayor!
Adena ran an incredible campaign, clearly emphasizing her commitment to safe streets. I’m heartened that Berkeley voters responded favorably.
Upsetting news. A motorist severely injured a pedestrian on Rose Street this evening. We hope this person has a full recovery. Berkeley needs to renew its focus on #VisionZero. ❤️🩹

🚨 Election Update: Measure FF passed!
Berkeley voters just approved Measure FF, a groundbreaking measure will provide more than $250M over 14 years for street repair, repaving, and life-saving safety infrastructure. The measure was placed on the ballot by volunteer signature gatherers who collected thousands of signatures. This is a huge win and demonstrates both broad support for safer streets and the effectiveness of our grassroots organizing. In addition to better maintained, smoother streets, this means we can expect more improvements such as better sidewalks, flashing beacons, raised crosswalks, traffic calming, protected bike lanes, landscaping, and signal prioritization. To learn more about the Measure and how it will improve Berkeley’s streets, visit https://t.co/JJZNlLVOot!
With about two thirds of votes counted, Measure FF has received more than 60% approval. Although more votes have yet to be counted, this incredibly positive result indicates that it’s clear FF has passed!
From beginning to end, this campaign was a truly community-driven, grassroots endeavor. Thank you to every volunteer who gathered signatures, canvassed, put up a lawn sign, and talked to family or neighbors about the measure. Our collective voices and actions will lead to real change on Berkeley’s streets to make them safer, more accessible, more sustainable, and smoother — all while avoiding greater maintenance obligations in the future. You did it!

“The seriousness of our elected leaders can be measured by whether they think these people need to be defeated or pandered to.”
I could not have said it better myself.
There's a chaos caucus in our politics. The seriousness of our elected leaders can be measured by whether they think these people need to be defeated or pandered to.
@RashiKesarwani, you're a warrior. Keep at it.

ICYMI: An audience member attempted to assault @RashiKesarwani last night, furious over modest neighborhood changes. Anti-housing anger has reached an absurd level—why the irrational resistance to these common sense housing solutions?
