@benz145 Playing with Spatial Videos on Quest 3, I saw the special handling for panoramas in the Files app too. I was extremely impressed and had the same reaction: panoramas are not only viable, but almost optimal for photo viewing in VR.
Any Quest user should try it. Nice work, @Meta!
@hmltn@pingpodnyc Hottest club in New York? Interesting. In NYC PingPod is $120/month with a 2-month minimum (per https://t.co/sW3fEPajmg). Coincidentally close to the cost of a Quest 2.
I wonder if @ElevenVR has any thoughts about this!?
@elonmusk What is incorrect? Your use of "now scolds" implies that it's new, when it is not a new feature. And the source of truth is an independent website not related to Microsoft. The feature is also turned off by default.
@DsaxFilm @DennyCloudhead I'm still shocked that Ready At Dawn has been MIA post-acquisition. After Lone Echo, Echo Arena, and LE2, they should have been primed for a AAA-scale project.
@DennyCloudhead are you sure RAD died due to a weak culture/structure? Could they just be heads down on a new project?
@DennyCloudhead Denny, doesn't this also argue for the value of /experienced/ VR devs? Sanzaru leveraged skills from years of launching multiple titles of increasing complexity.
I hope AW2 lets successful VR studios aim higher, and shows traditional studios they need to start VR dev /now/.
@DennyCloudhead @benz145@buddingmonkey IMO Oculus/FB could never get beyond the insurmountable PCVR community issues. Their virulent response to FB's business decisions (in and out of VR), and pro-Valve bias, would have kept a huge swath of enthusiasts permanently closed to it regardless of investment.
@BlakeJakely Yes, so much click bait, rage farming, and concern trolling. I see a poor signal to noise ratio with a concerning trendline.
I'm looking for good expert perspectives on VR/MR, AI, space, and similar topics. I want inspiration, not consternation.
Where to next?
@KimaraRouwit Thx for speaking out. It's frustrating to constantly see "we need AAA games, no jank, deep story, native VR full physics interactions/combat" and then complaints about prices > $20.
If devs can't make a profit, they can't make a game. And VR sales volumes are way below consoles.
@DennyCloudhead Another factor is that reviewers often play games differently than a typical consumer. Saying "I finished in 4 hours" sets the narrative, despite being a very different experience than that of a completionist or a regular gamer.
And does nobody replay games anymore? Even co-op?
@Neo8Emmanuel@man_primordial@BGatesIsaPyscho Because orbit requires two directions: up and over. Orbit is flying parallel to the ground. So, boosters take the 2nd stage (mostly) straight up, then the 2nd stage separates and starts turning and accelerating more horizontally as it leaves the atmosphere
@man_primordial@BGatesIsaPyscho The light in the circle is the second stage of the rocket, which successfully separated from the booster and continued to space.
@TrappMoneyHenny @gurgavin When a stock splits, all online stock graphs automatically adjust historical pricing. You don't see a stock "drop" from $200 to $100 the day of a 2:1 split for this reason.
Any active investor that doesn't know this should stop investing and never give investment advice.
@elonmusk Can we get @CommunityNotes in here to clarify that (a) it's legal to drop off ballots for other people, (b) this practice was more common in 2020 due to the pandemic, and (c) ballots were still confirmed after being placed in the box. https://t.co/UlnbI3X6Bj
@KevinBr95853902 @EricPresidentVR 4090 users represent 0.73% share on the Steam Hardware Survey. How much time do you rationally think developers should spend catering to this market?
As a VP Engineering I once worked with said, "it's OK to want things, as long as you recognize you may not get them."
@deepfrieddream@benz145 "Other low hanging fruit" like adding Instagram feeds to Explore, creating a "Horizon Feed", removing the "Most Recently-Used Apps" side panel, or seeming to make sideloaded apps harder to find each release?
I'm a product guy, I understand priorities, but Meta's choices are odd.
@deepfrieddream@benz145 How about enabling Siri Shortcuts on the Quest iOS app so you can tell your phone, "Hey Siri, play <game name>" to launch it in the headset with no friction?
Or at least better surface the ability to launch a game in the Quest app, it's ridiculously buried.
@ZachaReid Just a great app, and my go-to demo for MR.
QQ: Is more gamification to come? My daughter can play Piano Tiles on her phone with blinding speed, but piano feels like "work."
Any plans to directly target a fun factor to draw more people in?
