Watching his feet dance across the pedals, I’m reminded of that (perhaps apocryphal) story about a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach. After a magnificent performance, a wealthy admirer supposedly wished to reward Bach with a gold ring for each of his fingers — to which someone indignantly replied, “Don’t forget his feet!”

A charming reminder that true virtuosity, especially in Bach, is a full-body art. 🎹✨
