The only negative thing about ITNR I can share is it’s got a bit of this “bummer summer” vibe. With lyrics about divorce, dishonesty, loss, and depression, it’s not a record you would put on for a party.

Qotsa's latest is a solid return to form, which is lovely to write out. I was so bummed by Villains lackluster songs, and “airtight” production and that single is awful. I still cringe when I hear that opening guitar line.

People complain that Marvel abuses VFX artists, which they do, and then complain when they do something without heavily relying on VFX artists, like use A.I. to create intro credits that look like an imposture of an VFX artists for an espionage series, based on imposters.

Bending Hectic by The Smile is a solid mid in the catalog.

I love how dynamic the song is and the lyrical theme of being free in the act of letting go during a challenging moment. That’s how I am at least interpreting it.

But the mixing has some odd choices that do tend to lessen the impact of the song. The lack of echo or reverb by the last bridge is so bizarre when most of the track has some distance in the vocals or sounds like it.
