@gokulr@kunalb11@lennysan Thanks for sharing. He has an uncommon understanding of complex things. He monetized the seemingly unmonetizable Cred. I think he is being hired to WhatsApp for the same reason.
@aakashgupta I think they wanted to something affordable and looked at every cost they could eliminate and every complexity they could avoid. Lo and behold they came up with an easily repairable Mac.
@AsimAli6 Wrong conclusion on his policies leading to Hindutva. I think the rise of Hindutva had a very high likelihood one way or the other. Perhaps Nehru saw it as well, hence the embrace of socialism plus capitalism and not full fledged capitalism.
@_amitbehere@NikhilHDE No caste system in Bali. This is the point @DalrympleWill makes in the Golden Road. Cambodia, Bali and others imported Hinduism but excluded the caste system.
@mohiittverma That may not be the reason for everyone. If Indians speak up they will be called anti-national and no one will listen to them. That is why they seem to be allowing foreign experts like Stiglitz to speak on this. At least they can’t be called anti-nationals.
@acorn The broad theme of MNREGA is to decentralize and let people close to the action decide what is needed. It may not be 100% perfect but is likely to work like the way markets work. Decentralized, local demand & supply. Expected more from a think tank.
@vishalmisra Great thread, Vishal. I did not anything this, so this thread is a great 101 explainer. Is this a 100% lose-lose proposition? Why would the government ban this?
@sabeer If you enjoy it please keep doing it. Also read “Why we die?” By Venki Ramakrishnan, the Nobel Laureate. To summarize nothing much around the horizon to help with aging other than eat less, eat mostly plants, sleep well and exercise.
@deepigoyal A simple test for this might be to study if people sleeping without a pillow live longer than people sleeping with a pillow? What are your thoughts on that? Would it make a material difference?
@deepigoyal This is certainly a good line of research. I just finished reading Venki Ramakrishnan’s book ‘Why we age’. This may have value for patients with neuro-degenerative diseases of the brain. Are you doing any trials to see if this can complement?
