Great engagement in Sutton Coldfield yesterday as we tackled antisocial behaviour involving off‑road bikes and e‑scooters. Thanks to residents, partners and WMP for the support!
Our Community Safety Street Intervention Officers are providing high-visibility reassurance patrols in #Kingstanding working with partners to support local communities and encourage the reporting of Hate Crime.
#Communities#Unity#HateCrime
We know that the recent hateful graffiti targeting the Jami Community and Education Centre in Kingstanding has caused shock, distress, and deep concern locally. No one in Birmingham should ever feel unsafe or targeted because of their identity, their faith, or the places they gather as a community. We are clear that any form of hate crime is completely unacceptable in Birmingham.
We are working closely with West Midlands Police and local partners to provide reassurance, support, and clear reporting routes for anyone affected by anti Muslim hate or hate crime. This incident is being investigated as a hate crime, and increased police visibility and engagement is already in place. Our teams have also met with community representatives and will continue supporting the centre and the wider community with security guidance, access to national protective funding and the proper removal of the graffiti.
We recognise the strength and solidarity shown within the community and we stand with them against any form of hate. Birmingham is a city grounded in shared values of dignity, respect, and compassion, and these values guide how we respond when any community feels vulnerable or afraid.
If you experience or witness hate crime, please report it to the Police via 999 in emergencies or 101 for non emergencies. Every report helps protect our communities and uphold the inclusive and resilient Birmingham we are proud of.
We’re strengthening community safety across Birmingham with 10 new Community Safety Street Intervention Officers now working in our five LCSP areas.
They’ll be supporting local priorities, reducing ASB and building strong relationships with residents and community partners.
