@zorcwizard@KFOGRadio KFOG's ratings have been steadily declining for a while. The station's listeners were aging into older demos that advertisers don't really care for which made it more difficult to sell ad time. It is the same reason KFOG dropped its easy listening/beautiful music format in 1982.
@yourboyBrianRD@markrobt@KFOGRadio KFOG never programmed classical but was an easy listening station. Both are instrumental in nature, but they are not one and the same music format.
@sal_castaneda The move to a more alternative rock direction was aimed at appealing to a younger demographic of listeners, which would make the format more saleable.
@sal_castaneda Maybe. The station's listeners as a AAA station were aging into older demographics that advertisers don't particularly care for which made it more difficult to sell ad time. It is the same reason KFOG dropped its easy listening/beautiful music format in 1982.
@DavidFJackson5@KNBR@BayAreaRadio That won't be happening. Cumulus has already moved the KFOG calls to their AM 1250 in Little Rock, as of 9/6. https://t.co/Owg0HNAH4O
@KevDGrussing Who's to say that Cumulus didn't already have plans to change KFOG's format PRIOR to the KFFG sale to EMF? They might have been waiting to get rid of KFFG first before the format change was announced.
@OfficialJTylee@KoHoSo@Live365 I would imagine only a handful of listeners and stations have contacted congress about the matter, either back in 2016 or in the interim. You get out what you put in...
@OfficialJTylee@KoHoSo@Live365 btw, we have some free PSAs we created a few years ago after the CRB raised rates in 2016. These are available for download to air on internet-based radio stations at https://t.co/kikA8WRbGE.
@OfficialJTylee@KoHoSo@Live365 Most listeners don't get involved either, as their attitude is if my favorite internet radio station goes offline then "I'll just find another station to listen to". We MUST get listeners involved in this fight! There is only so much stations can do...
@OfficialJTylee@KoHoSo@Live365 We've had the https://t.co/V5buJ1zYRL site active for about 3 yrs now after the 2016 rates went up. Not much traction in there, as we have too many stations lamenting and complaining about their situation instead of taking constructive action to get the rates reduced.
@Broadcast365 Moving to a new licensor is merely a "band aid"; we need a PERMANENT solution. Listeners refuse to get involved and fight for fair and reasonable music licensing costs for small webcasters, then wonder why their favorite stations have to go offline. https://t.co/V5buJ1intb
@KoHoSo@Live365 On Streamlicensing as well. Moving to a new licensor is merely a "band aid"; we need a PERMANENT solution. Listeners refuse to get involved and fight for fair and reasonable music licensing costs for small webcasters, then wonder why their favorite stations have to go offline.
