In 2019 the council declared a climate emergency and made a commitment for the council and the city to become net zero carbon by 2030. Nearly five years on, that commitment remains ‘merely an aspiration’ according to Cllr Martin Brooks, speaking at today’s planning meeting.
2023 has been confirmed as the warmest year on record.
Yet, 2023 was a mere preview of the catastrophic future that awaits if we don’t #ActNow.
Leaders must commit to path-breaking #ClimateAction, end the fossil fuel age – fairly and fast – and invest in helping vulnerable countries combat climate chaos.
