The government is in a very proactive mode to secure mineral supply chains for India. After the recent announcement of the Ministry of Mines to sign multiple agreements in Africa, there is now a proposal to send an Indian industry delegation to explore copper assets in Zambia. Copper is the single most important metal of the future.
Interestingly, Vedanta’s Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) in Zambia is one of the largest producing assets of copper and cobalt in the Continent, with very significant reserves of high-grade copper. We aim to produce 300,000 tonnes of copper per year and 6,000 tonnes of cobalt per year in the near term and 500,000 tonnes of copper per year and 10,000 tonnes of cobalt per year relatively soon.
India is importing 95% of its copper and 100% of its cobalt from Zambia, Congo and several other countries. KCM will also look to serve the Indian market given the huge gap in supply and demand. India’s demand for these minerals is growing in double digit and a steady and affordable supply of raw materials is necessary to become a global manufacturing hub. Both copper and cobalt are key to new age manufacturing. Entrepreneurs and startups can leverage assured raw material supply to set up businesses in EV, batteries and others. This will enable thousands of downstream industries and create millions of jobs while boosting the economies of India and Zambia.
Meanwhile, in India, private participation in Hindustan Copper via a transparent bidding process can take domestic production to a different level. We are fortunate to have a government which is production-minded, not revenue-minded. It can be an enabler of such reform.

Hamare shastron mein kaha gaya hai: pehla sukh nirogi kaya. Aur mere liye toh yoga and music have been the greatest healers.
Yoga is a centuries-old heritage with Shiv ji being the Adiyogi. Indian culture mein yoga aur music dono ka apna ek vishesh sthaan hai. Bharat ne vishwa ko yoga aur sangeet ki mahima batayi hai and today people all over the world are turning to yoga and Bharatiya sur and sangeet, and experiencing their magic. Yeh Bharat ki den hai aur Bharat ka time hai.
What a beautiful day to celebrate both these gifts.
Wishing you all the best and I'd love to hear all of your experiences too, what Yoga practice do you follow, what is your morning mantra, and how has it benefited you?

As the sun rose this morning, I felt a great sense of pride and responsibility as I cast my #vote in the #LokSabhaElections2024.
Each of us has a role to play in ensuring the progress of our great nation. @Vedanta_Group as an organisation, is also deeply rooted in this philosophy. We are playing a small part in realising the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Every day, we strive to reduce our nation's dependence on imports by boosting domestic production in metals, minerals, oil & gas and other critical materials. This not only drives economic growth but also creates countless job opportunities, fostering a self-reliant and robust India.
