Hill states have been independent since ancient times, They resisted invaders for centuries. Mahmud of Ghazni raided and plundered Nagarkot in 1009 but could not hold it permanently. Katoch kings fiercely fought Mughals. Jahangir captured Kangra fort only in 1620 after a long siege but Raja Sansar Chand recaptured it in 1789

Gorkhas invaded around 1806. Ranjit Singh took control in 1809 for a short period before British annexed it in 1846 after the Anglo Sikh wars.

You chauvinists try to erase this entire hill states history of fighting invaders just because of that brief Sikh control.

Shah Commission rightly separated the non Punjabi speaking areas. Census records of India and British times confirm these regions were never Punjabi.

We Himachalis are happy we got separated from Punjab. Stop rewriting history to claim what was never yours.
