Ground Report: Pasighat Violence🛑
Arunachal Pradesh: Youth protests against the 11,200 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project turned violent Friday night.
A POLICE STATION, NHPC office and seven vehicles were set ablaze. Homes of BJP MLAs Ninong Ering and Oni Panyang, and of BJP state chief Kaling Moyong, were ransacked.
The Adi communities whose land sits in the dam zone were never convinced, and Medog's actual impact on the Siang remains uncertain.
The key demand: release 10 anti-dam activists, four under APUAPA.
On October 13, Chief Minister Pema Khandu agreed to withdraw FIRs and scale down security. Reports say he also promised their release.
The government calls it "only a survey", yet deploys CENTRAL ARMED FORCES. It promises "public consensus", then puts up barricades.
Arson is indefensible. So is a broken promise.
Tadak Nalo, Chairman of the Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (#AFTF), has warned the state government to shift its approach regarding the #SiangUpperMultipurposeProject (#SUMP). He demanded the immediate release of all detained youths and the withdrawal of #securityforces from the #Siang belt. Failure to comply, Nalo stated, will trigger a series of #democraticprotests in the state capital.
Europe burns on your feed
The BJP ecosystem, godi media, the IT cell and the Andhbhakts love flooding your feed with videos of protests in Europe : burning cars, police clashes, chaos to make you fear every Indian who raises their voice as some foreign-funded conspiracy.
“Look what happens when people protest! This is what they want in India!”
Manipur has burned for 3+ years.
Villages emptied. Tens of thousands still in camps. Homes & churches ash. Internet blackouts as routine.
Same ecosystem, same channels, same IT cell that lose their mind over foreign protests? Mostly silent.
Only protests that scare them are the ones that question Delhi.
Selective fear isn’t patriotism. Selective silence isn’t journalism.
