Should Jawaharlal Nehru be credited
with setting up India’s first IIT as is
claimed by Nehruvian fantasists?

NO.

Should PM Modi be credited with setting up seven new IITs, taking the total to 23?

YES.

Nehru did not ‘create’ IITs. Nor did he set up India’s first IIT.

Dr BC Roy, CM of West Bengal, set up India’s first IIT in Calcutta in 1950; it later moved to Kharagpur on land owned by West Bengal Government.

IIT Kharagpur Act came six years later in 1956.

Soviet Union set up IIT Powai; US set up IIT Kanpur; West Germany set up IIT Madras (all of them with trade surplus and aid).

The idea of setting up Indian institutes of technology took shape in 1946 with Humayun Kabir leading the way and Nalini Ranjan Sarkar Committee preparing a report. Extant records do not mention any role played by Nehru.

So,

Why was the first IIT set up in #WestBengal ?

Because in 1950s West Bengal had the highest concentration of industry in #India.

What went wrong?

Nehru's Freight Equalisation Policy killed industry in West Bengal and all of east India. West Bengal became the 'Disinherited State'.

Rest is history.

@VikasSaraswat एक दम सही बात !! पिछले साल तक कॉपी एक टीचर चेक करता था फिर उसी कापी को दूसरा टीचर रिचेक करता था फिर कॉर्डिनेटर हर कॉपी चेक करता था की टोटलिंग ठीक है और हर क्वेश्चन चेक है की नहीं और फिर AHE और HE भी चेक करते थे साइन करते थे OSM में बस एक टीचर ही चेक कर रहा है AHE HE फ़ॉर्मालिटी

XII Std exam means so much to youngsters. Many could go into long term deep depression. Some might even contemplate hurting themselves. There should not be any room for ambiguity and doubt in evaluating exam copies. The system has to be foolproof.

Teachers have left the questions unchecked , wrongly checked. OSM software just only have feature for totalling and no concept of AI etc nothing

कड़े शब्दों का प्रयोग नहीं करना चाहता था परंतु कोई झंड बुद्धि ही यह सोच सकता है कि जोखिम ले कर और दिन रात के तनाव झेलकर भी फैक्ट्री मालिक की कमाई कर्ममचारी की औसत आय से ज्यादा नहीं होनी चाहिए। और यदि कहना यह चाहते हो कि फैक्ट्री मालिक सभी कर्मचारियों की मिली जुली तनख्वाह से चार पांच गुना ज्यादा कमा रहा है, तो बावरे गांव से आये हो। बड़े स्तर पर अनस्किल्ड कर्मी वैसे उद्योगों में खपते हैं जो श्रम गहन श्रेणी में आते हैं। इनमें कोई लुकी छुपी तकनीक नहीं होती। अमूमन हर खरीददार कच्चे माल, लेबर काॅस्ट व ओवरहेड का अनुमान लगा कर ही फैक्ट्री मालिक के लिए मुनाफा छोड़ता है। आज की तारीख में एक जोड़ी जूता बनाने पर कुल लेबर कास्ट 120 से 140 तक आती है। और मुनाफा 50 रुपये जोड़ी भी मिल जाए तो बड़ी बात है। नेट प्रॉफिट और भी कम। उधारी छः महीने से साल भर की, सो अलग। गारमेंट सैक्टर में भी यही स्थिति है। और हां, आप जैसा व्यक्ति यदि सरकारी कर्मचारी हो तो उसकी तनख्वाह तो चौथाई होनी चाहिए।

Russian oil tankers headed towards China are turning towards India mid-way because we are forced to buy at high prices because of our rather slim reserves. India delivery of Russian Ural Crude is now around $ 98.93 per barrel but China delivery is around $ 81-83. So, China is getting Russian crude at $9-$11 discount to Brent but still refusing to buy it because of its comfortable reserves while India is just getting a discount $4.80 to Brent but is still has no option but to buy it because we did not plan and build enough strategic reserves. This of course can change rapidly if Iran war drags on because then China too will have to buy at high prices and thin discounts like India.
