#Watch | Salia village in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, located around 20 km from the town on the Anantnag-Pahalgam route, is known for its walnut production and is among nearly 22 walnut-growing villages in the area.

For many families, walnut trees are their main source of income. Farmers say the cutting of walnut trees in recent years has reduced production. They also highlight the risks faced by labourers during harvesting, with some suffering serious injuries from falls.

Farmers say that despite producing quality walnuts with hard work, they often fail to get fair returns in the market. They have urged authorities to protect walnut trees, improve harvesting safety and ensure better prices for growers.
