On May 27, 2025, my family met with a horrific road accident. My 32-year-old wife Apoorva, my 74-year-old father-in-law and my 3-year-old daughter were in the vehicle when it was hit from behind by an overspeeding bus.
My wife suffered a Grade 2 Diffuse Axonal Injury and fought for her life in the ICU for 134 days. She passed away on October 7, 2025.
My father-in-law suffered 14 rib fractures, punctured lungs and a head injury. After multiple hospitalizations, he passed away on November 3, 2025.
My daughter survived.
While our family was dealing with something I cannot adequately put into words, another battle was happening in parallel.
Insurance.
My father-in-law was insured under a Star Health policy.
And what followed has now raised questions for me that go far beyond whether an insurance claim was eventually paid.
It raises questions about grievance handling, customer dignity, privacy, confidential medical information and what happens when a customer publicly questions an insurance company.
Star Health, I am putting these questions publicly because my repeated attempts through regular channels did not give me satisfactory answers.
