18 women in Nagpur, Maharashtra complained about kidney problems to their doctors in the span of two years. Doctors saw a pattern and checked that all of them were using this pakistani cream sold by many Instagram pages and meesho.
FDA Maharashtra took the cream samples. Sent to lab and found out that it has 752x mercury present in it above the legal limits. yes, 752x.
Yes, This mercury (poison in this case) can make you goree in 15 days because it blocks the cell that makes melanin. But in reality thats a chemical damage that looks like fairness. And guess what, our skin absorbs mercury and keeps getting deposited in kidney all the time.
I know you might not be using this cream or meesho, but please check around, especially with your house help and your family members back in hometown, if they are using this cream, please ask them to throw it RIGHT AWAY!!!
A cautionary tale about @urbancompany_uc and how a publicly listed company handles damage claims.
Booked their technician (Sanju Kumar) to install a Luminous inverter at my home in Bangalore. Routine job. Should've been 2 hours.
Invoice no: UCIC260004101947
Complaint no: 69f362690db9530026fe28d7
Instead of a standard install, he opened the main switchboard and worked with MAINS LIVE violating the most basic electrical safety rule. Phase-neutral cross-connection caused a ~280V surge through my home wiring.
Within minutes:
• Geyser circuit dead - Approximation given is around 12,000 to fix
• 55" Smart TV motherboard fried, panel and screen damaged - looking at full loss ( Rs 48,000)
• Apple TV completely destroyed (₹14,900 replacement)
• Home electrical wiring compromised (Assessing currently)
The moment Sanju Kumar realized he'd damaged the geyser, he packed up and LEFT mid-job. Inverter still uninstalled. No fix. No apology. No accountability.
Had to hire a different electrician the next day to fix the wiring he broke out of my own pocket.
Filed formal complaint with UC. Specifically requested a SENIOR technician for independent damage assessment.
UC's response? They sent SANJU KUMAR BACK. The same person who caused the damage. To "take photos" of his own work and walk away.
He showed up, photographed the damage he caused, left without resolution. No claims process opened. No callback.
When we asked UC for a complaint ID, it took multiple follow-ups and a manual download of a tax invoice to extract any documentation. They were not proactive in issuing one almost as if to avoid creating a paper trail.
3 sleepless nights. ₹40,000+ in documented damages. Complete radio silence from UC corporate after that.
@urbancompany_uc@abhirajbhal@raghavchandra@varunkhaitan — your company is publicly listed now. Retail and institutional shareholders are watching how customer grievances are handled.
Is THIS the customer experience model investors signed up for?
1. Technician violates basic electrical safety
2. Damages multiple appliances and home wiring
3. Walks off mid-job when he realizes his mistake
4. Same technician sent back to "investigate" his own damage
5. Customer chases for documentation that should've been auto-generated
6. Then gets ghosted
Listed companies are held to a higher standard of corporate governance, customer protection, and grievance redressal. SEBI compliance and investor disclosures aren't just about quarterly numbers they extend to how the brand treats its customers.
This isn't how a publicly listed company should operate.
Asking for:
1. Independent senior technician (not Sanju Kumar) to assess damage
2. Compensation for documented damages: ₹90,000+
3. Formal acknowledgment of complaint 69f362690db9530026fe28d7
4. Process review — no customer should have to extract their own complaint ID
5. Public clarification on UC's damage claims SOP
Have all invoices, technician's diagnosis report confirming overvoltage cause, photos, timestamps, and WhatsApp records.
please be careful. If a clearly documented case is handled this way, imagine the cases without paper trails.
Consumer forum filing prepared if there's no response in 48 hours.

That's the notice. Pls read the 2nd paragraph in the 12th page.
Public Interest:
A practising paediatrician commenting on products sold alongside ORS in the pharmacies , which may be purchased by caregivers of sick children, is exercising her professional duty and constitutional right to free speech on a matter of Public health. This is squarely within the 'fair comment' exception to defamation under Indian law.
Saying that a doctor doesn't have the expertise to understand the regulatory framework and the scientific risk assessment is condescending and irrelevant. A law firm telling a practicing paediatrician that she lacks the expertise to comment on whether a product marketed in the health care space is safe for children! A practicing paediatrician has every professional and ethical obligation to voice concerns about products that may be confused with therapeutic agents at the point of sale, particularly in the pharmacies.
On FSSAI orders
The FSSAI's October 14th and 15th 2025 orders confirm the regulatory concern that the original ORSL branding was misleading. This criticism predated and was vindicated by the regulators own action. The rebranding to ERZL and the re-stickering process(old ORSL packs with ERZL stickers pasted over them!) is itself a ground-level consumer confusion issue that a healthcare professional is entitled to document and report.
The notice repeatedly cites the Delhi High Court's November 12, 2025 order stating the product is "not adulterated or unsafe for use". This is a weak argument. My criticism (from what the notice itself reproduces) was about the misbranding and not that the liquid inside was adulterated.
On Sucralose
The WHO'S 2023 guideline on non-sugar sweeteners is a legitimate peer-reviewed, systematic-review-based recommendation from world's apex health body. Citing it is not "unscientific ". The EFSA 2026 affirmation pertains to currently authorized uses and ADOIlevels-it does not contradict the WHO'S broader conditional recommendation regarding long-term metabolic effects. Science involves ongoing debate;characterizing a doctor's reference to WHO guidelines as "malicious" is itself a misrepresentation.
The notice cherry picks regulatory approvals(FSSAI, Codex, FDA, and the February EFSA reaffirmation) while completely ignoring the WHO'S own 2023 guidelines conditionally recommending against the use of non-sugar sweeteners (including Sucralose) for weight control and flagging potential long term risks including type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease with long term use. The WHO guidelines explicitly state that this applies to everyone except those with pre existing diabetes.
On Trademark
Nominative fair use permits naming a product for purposes of criticism, commentary, or review. No authorization is required to discuss a commercially available product in a non-commercial, public -interest context.
On the demands
The demands to take down all posts, provide a list for corporate review, and refrain from future commentary amount to prior restraint of speech- something Indian constitutional law views with deep suspicion. The Supreme Court of India has held that prior restraint on speech is permissible only in the narrowest of circumstances.
Implicit Threat
The notice should be recognized for what it is- a corporate attempt to silence a health care professional using litigation costs as a weapon. The doctor reserves her own right to bring this notice to public attention as an example of corporate intimidation of health advocates and to seek appropriate legal remedies if harassment continues
'Commercial benefit' accusation?!
This is an outrageous accusation that some one who is striving hard for public health advocacy has commercial motives! So, any doctor, who gains a following for evidence based health communication is commercially motivated and should be silenced?! The party actually benefitting commercially from the product is the company Kenvue/J&J!

Dr Bhawuk Dhir Dermatologist, Dermadex Clinic, Delhi featured in The Indian Express . He highlighted body image issues and unrealistic beauty standards and how pressure to look perfect affects self-esteem and mental health and stressed the value of self acceptance over perfection
Low cut-off, reservation, grace marks fine, debate all that. But how do you justify giving a medical licence to someone who scored negative marks? –40 out of 800?
This is not empowerment.
This is sheer idiocy and a direct destruction of our medical system, which is already struggling...
I don’t think even such a doctor’s own family members would trust them for treatment.
Example Starts from
1) Levis Belts US version vs Indian Version
2) Coke/Fanta etc US/Europe version vs Indian Version
3) Oils, Veggies, Fruits
4) Milk & Milk Products
5) Chocolates, Dairy Milk brands etc
And these are not even Counterfeit Products. Companies taking undue advantages as no Rules/Regulations exists.
Imagine whats the scenario with Fake products.
This country is beyond repair

A man came to our colony and asked for money in return for showing the snake and opening the basket, from house to house. I was, I think, 12 or 13 at the time.
One of our neighbourhood uncles refused to give him money and asked him to leave 'rudely'.
The next day, the uncle found the same snake in his house. Apparently, it was a common practice of such people. But that uncle was a bit rowdy; he tracked down that snake guy, dragged him back to the colony and gave him a good beating in front of everyone.
The snake guy kept shouting 'paap lagega' "saanp poore parivar ko kaat jayega" and other things. But Uncle was adamant. After some slaps, he was asked to leave, and for years, that snake guy never came to our colony again.
That day, I realised how important it is to fight the pseudoscience and superstition in a very 'rowdy' and rude way. Uncle could have been 'humble' and could have asked him to leave with 'love', but that guy would have scammed the entire colony again and again for years.
Whenever you see something happening around you that is rooted in pseudoscience or superstition, be upfront and direct. That is the only way to take our country ahead rationally.
This young and fit young man was referred to my outpatient because his liver tests were looking not so good. AST was 686 and ALT was 584. No jaundice. But he had lost appetite. Teetotaller. No family history of liver disease.
His clinical history was terrifying. Being into fitness, he started watching videos on YouTube and Instagram to improve his fitness routine. Most of the so-called health influencers he watched and studied online, made him feel like he was incomplete. That he needed to have more, to be more, to actually be fit. Trust me, this guy was really fit, strong and healthy.
He learned about how real fit men have supplement stacks. So he got himself supplement stacks because without it, he was made to believe by so-called health influencers that he was not really fit.
One month into the supplement stack, his liver tests were over the roof.
Every so-called health influencer out there is trying to sell you something. Or trying to sell you something in the future.
Trust me, you do not need:
Ashwagandha root to improve recovery
Turmeric capsules to boost immunity
Shilajit to increase testosterone
Green tea extracts to improve antioxidation
Vitamin C supplements to beat infections
Magnesium for whatever it is that they sell it for
Fat burners to look thinner, and those
Terrifyingly complex pre-work out supplements
Herbal and dietary supplements are now the most commonly identified upcoming causes for liver injury, liver failure and indication for liver transplantation
Do not let these so-called health influencers feel like you are lesser. You are perfectly fine without any of these garbage supplements.
