Mixing-up in Fighting games is an artform. It's your time to shine. It's your moment in the spotlight, where you as the artist get to paint your masterpiece
I've said it before, but -- particularly the western FGC -- we spend too much time trying to bend games to our will. We want Fighting Games to meet our expectations of how they should play as opposed to trying to appreciate the games given to us.
Marvel Tokon is not Marvel Vs. Capcom. It's not trying to be. And it shouldn't have to. It's trying to be its own thing, and while there are some concerns that stand out as potential things that need to be tweaked (every game has flaws on release), the game having "no mix" or being "too slow" isn't really true. It just doesn't have the pace and "personality" you expect out of a Marvel team-based Fighting Game because of our years of madness from MvC games.
But I think what we saw with the beta is a wonderful start. I love a LOT of what ArcSys is trying to to do with the game. I can see their vision (Vision for DLC confirmed... ๐). And we should judge the game on its own merits as opposed to our want for a new MvC game. I get it: there is a gaping hole that exists right now where an MvC-type game should be. And I don't blame anyone just praying that one shows up.
But I think we have a very strong game at hand for now. I think there's a LOT for us to learn about Marvel Tokon still, and the game has the potential to get degenerate pretty heavily once we have actual time with the game.
As it is, yes, certain things need tweaking. The Chains and Jump Cancels need buffer windows so the combos don't feel so "underwater" as some players are saying, justifiably. The DP motion bug needs fixing because it's irritating AF. I think the Training Mode needs to be better than it was during the beta. Etc. etc.
But I'm looking forward to the game. Can't wait for its official release.
Tony Bellew is spot on. Heโs absolutely right that boxing in America has fallen off a cliff.
Itโs being held together by the few big names we have but it needs revitalization
Also Fury vs AJ should be in the UK
