**This 1959 Paris performance of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers on “A Night In Tunisia” is pure voltage.**
Lee Morgan’s trumpet cuts through with that bright, urgent tone and rhythmic snap — he doesn’t just play the changes, he attacks them. Wayne Shorter’s tenor already shows his singular voice: drier, more angular phrasing with unexpected intervals that sit beautifully against Morgan’s fire. And Blakey? He’s the storm — those press rolls and the way he pushes the band from the tune’s Latin-tinged head straight into hard-swinging 4/4 is textbook Messengers magic.
You can feel why this lineup mattered: tight heads, individual voices exploding inside the form, and that unmistakable live urgency. Hard bop at its most alive, captured on European soil.
Which moment hits you hardest — Morgan’s heat or the way the whole band locks in?

“I Concentrate on You” is one of those Cole Porter gems that never goes out of style — intimate, elegant, and endlessly melodic.
There’s a stillness to this song that I love. It doesn’t rush. It sways. It lets every word land softly, like a whisper in the middle of a crowded room. Singing it feels like lighting a candle — warm, focused, and deeply personal.
It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best way to tune out the noise… is to tune in to love.
Is there a song that helps you feel centered?
With Love, Maggy ❤️
