I represented the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM at the 2026 Q1 High-Level meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), at the INEC HQ, Abuja. I made the following remarks on behalf of the IGP;
1. The NPF is ready to provide adequate security for the FCT-Abuja Area Council election and the State Constituencies bye-elections in Kano and Rivers States.
2. ⁠The NPF will ensure massive deployments of police officers during all elections in Nigeria, this is aimed at ensuring peaceful and violence-free elections.
3. ⁠The IGP will continue to put in place effective operational planning in ensuring success of every election in Nigeria, and the successes recorded in the last Anambra State Governorship election will be replicated in future elections.
4. ⁠The IGP is focused on providing adequate security to all staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, electoral materials and all INEC facilities across Nigeria at all times.
5. ⁠The NPF as the lead agency in elections/electoral security will continue to ensure coordination/synergy among all security/safety agencies-members of ICCES in archiving successful elections.
