Ceferin disse que essa expansão faz com que hajam jogos de copa "sem interesse"

Em resposta, estas federações disseram que esse tipo de fala ignora a importância que a copa tem para estes países, o esforço e anos de trabalho para conquistar este direito de jogar a copa, a importância disso para seus países e o poder de influenciar e inspirar gerações.

The Football Federations of Cape Verde, Curaçao, Uzbekistan, Congo, Haiti, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa express their deep disappointment following the recent remarks made by the UEFA President, Aleksander Čeferin, regarding the expansion of the FIFA World Cup and his description of many matches as being “without interest.”

For our countries, there is no such thing as a FIFA World Cup match without importance.

For our countries, qualifying for the FIFA World Cup represents a historic achievement and the realization of a dream shared across generations.

Suggesting that some of our matches are in any way less important is deeply disappointing and amounts to ignoring the effort, sacrifices, and aspirations of players, coaches, clubs, football administrators, and fans around the world.

Behind every qualification lie years of work and investment. Behind every national team stand entire communities and millions of people who see football as a source of pride, hope, and unity.

Football does not belong to a small group of privileged decision-makers. Its strength lies in its universality. The FIFA World Cup is the greatest football competition in the world precisely because it brings together different cultures, histories, and footballing journeys.

For many countries, participating in the FIFA World Cup is not only a sporting achievement. It is a moment that inspires a generation, accelerates football development, and creates lifelong memories.

We believe that every nation that qualifies deserves respect.
