Hindu Indian captain Smit Machchhar was stabbed in the cockpit of flydubai FZ1073 after the co-pilot — reported as Omani — tried to crash the Dubai–Tel Aviv flight.

Wounded, he fought back, sent the emergency/hijack codes, and opened the cockpit door before collapsing.

Passengers and crew then overpowered the attacker. Reserve pilots landed the plane safely in Tabuk. All 174–180 on board survived.
