All Syrians are saying that liberating Sednaya's prison is more significant than destroying Berlin's wall. Years of fear, torture, death, and subjugation will end tonight.
The women are incredulous, asking questions in disbelief. Just go, just go, get your things and go, the man freeing them keeps repeating. He sees a toddler and exclaims “haram!” - meaning, this is a tragic evil. What a scene ya Allah
The book offers great insight into RSD practices in Canada and Australia while making us realise the central role of narrative in asylum adjudication. An excellent read! To purchase it: https://t.co/6gZRkD1JY8
Was an absolute pleasure to review Vogl’s @antheavogl ‘Judging Refugees: Narrative and Oral Testimony in Refugee Status Determination’ published by @CambridgeUP for @JRefugeeStudies. To read it: https://t.co/EEmhgGJLTO
The war in Gaza is a war against memory. Like all totalitarian projects, the occupation in Palestine reminds us that the struggle of man against power is indeed the struggle of memory against forgetting, to quote Milan Kundera.
Israel has:
- killed UNRWA staff members & is trying to outlaw the organization
- attacked UNIFIL installations & injured its peacekeepers
- barred the UN Secretary-General from its territory
Yet it remains a member of UNHCR's Executive Committee, which meets in Geneva next week.

It’s also the perfect conclusion for my visiting fellowship with them. I’ve been a part of the European Law & Governance School team since April.
Heartfelt thanks for their support during my time in Greece! To many many more collaborations together.
Our beloved Refaat Alareer (@itranslate123) wrote these words in October, but they had not been published until now. @intifada is grateful to have the honor to share them with the world. When I read them, I can hear his voice. https://t.co/KvnjKTMtNV

Listened to the legendary Richard Falk today. He emphasised that it is optimistic to use the phrase ‘after’ for what’s happening in Gaza. Yet, we still choose to hope, challenge Western legal narratives, and show solidarity with the people of Palestine.📍#bilc2024@bu_law_school
Palestinian grief asks the entire world a question: What would life be like for you, without our people? Who will remember all the beauty of that which we love?»
we teach the world a lesson in humanity: “Palestinians teach a fundamental decolonial truth, which the current world is still unable to comprehend—that Gaza has liberated us all.”
